Default 971.2 Animated tail light retrofit?

Hi gents,

Was searching for coding and found this listed on NHTSA covering retrofit of taillights for 971.2 including animated taillights - has anyone done this?

I’m interested in doing a taillight conversion as well however have been finding conflicting documentation on whether or not it will work.

If the question is going from 971.2 to 971.1 with the conversion, it will not work.

It is not, but to clarify my original post that was punched out in haste:

For 971.2 owners - those 2021 model year and newer with comfort access - Porsche N.A. has the “official” retrofit instructions linked above from Aug ‘22.

What’s interesting is that in order to enable animated taillights (“Animation runs from the outside to the interior for approx. 0.7 seconds”), different hardware driven by BCM2 control unit is required in addition to PIWIS coding (maintenance of vehicle data - tail lamps to “8VQ - SBBR lights animated exc VAR1”).

Curious if any 971.2 owners have done this - whether DIY, or through a dealer?

Edit: Taillight part number referenced in the Porsche NA bulletin is $1,230 from Sunset, which references “specific coming/leaving home option”
