Nice articles but I’m speaking from experience. I have Traverler’s Insurance and they provide me a discount specifically because my Panamera is E-Hybrid. It is completely separate from miles driven.

If you have solar, the reduced cost is even better.

But, yes, the cost of the Porsche HV batteries is criminal. 4-5x the cost of same capacity pack on just about any other EV or HV. Most others also have better heat management so 85% at 200k miles is not unheard of, whereas on Porsche that is a pipe dream.

Where one can actually buy the mythical aftermarket Porsche HV batteries remains a mystery. Like the city of gold, people always say it exists, but can never actually find it.

Well let’s see… given hybrid batteries are covered under emissions warranties that are 8-10 years long, the only people needing to buy out of pocket (assuming they did not purchase after market warranty) would be model years 2013 and older. Here’s one place selling the hybrid battery for 2013 Panamera for $4,500.

Its a used battery, with 80% capacity remaining.

Agree with the emissions warranty, just read up on it. I wonder if the drive motors and motor controllers/power amplifiers are considered part of it too, or just the batteries covered under emissions ?

The 2013 used a 1.7 kWh 288 V nickel-metal hydride battery which was little more than a booster. It was not a Phev either.

Since you brought up the 2013 model..
Prius battery of that year was more than 2x larger. BTW, a replacement 2013 Prius battery with all new cells and more than 2x capacity is $1,400 dollars vs $4, 500 for the unit you mention where they replace only the bad cells. I rest my case.

Now show me that reasonably priced LiIon replacement for 2014 onward.

You win, we should all save our money and drive a Prius. How dare Porsche parts cost more than a Prius.

Forgive me. I forgot that any generic part with a Porsche sticker is better engineered and is worth 5x as much.

Not everyone drives a Porsche to compensate and prove to their neighbors how wealthy they are. If that is your motivation then paying 5x times market price for a box of the same LG cells used by Toyota makes sense as it does say Porsche on the box. It more than justifies price gouging. Don't forget to buy the $1,000 12v battery which is no different than a $200 Costco battery except for the Porsche sticker. The Toyota driving morons will really be impressed with that. Maybe a Porsche branded jacket, watch, shoes and gold chain to go with it.

Still waiting for link to the reasonably priced LiIon aftermarket batteries you say are available.

C'mon guys, we've already seen this dance....no need to get nasty. There are some good points up above but padded with internet arm-wrestling.

Plus we have strayed far from the OP.

You’re absolutely right. My cheeky joke was my last say on the somewhat off-topic subject!
