Spoiler water ingress
Ever since I had the car, there has been an occasional fault when the spoiler deploys. The left hand leaf would crack when opening , then after a while, would cease to work. The mechanic I use is old school , fabricator , painter , the type who would rather fix that throw parts. The car has been with him for a couple of weeks getting a long list of small jobs done, last was to look at the spoiler , again...
he sent me this photo earlier ;
This is part of the drive unit, quite obviously been exposed to water over the last 10 years or so. A timely reminder to clean out the rear spoiler drain holes, I’ll hold my hands up and was blissfully unaware of their existence until a short time ago . It’s now been thoroughly cleaned and put back together, fingers crossed he can get it working in the appropriate fashion.

If you open the tailgate, there are 2 holes beside the lock that you can poke a screwdriver in , having spoke further to mechanic, the mechanism is actually fully exposed to the elements too which doesn’t help,
