EV battery fires are causing some big issues... Not ideal if you ever crash one..

"The company’s CEO, Akio Toyota made a speech at last year’s Japanese Automobile Manufacturer’s Association press conference saying “Carbon is our enemy, not the internal combustion engine.”"
I'd love to see the above happen and take over from BEV's. Akio says it all in the above quote. At the moment EV's are largely virtue signalling or fun tech, they do little if anything positive for the environment. Car batteries require huge quantities of heavy metals and rare earths, are very difficult to recycle and require a huge amount of energy when doing so. They require electricity made somewhere to charge, so whatever color that electricity is Hydrogen can be made using the same. EV's use power to lug around a tonne of batteries on top of the usual car, run cooling systems on hot days when parked just to cool the batteries when not in use plus only last a short number of years before capacity significantly drops. As a best case you might get 10 years before you buy a new one and start the carbon footprint cycle again.
If ICE cars can run on Hydrogen that is blue or green you could have your cake and eat it too, plus it would be a much tastier cake because it wouldn't sound as uninspiring as a kitchen appliance.
I have a 356 from 1958 that has a smaller carbon footprint than any EV to have ever come off the production line. Combustion engines can last an incredibly long time with very efficient maintenance (in truth it runs better today than it ever would have new!). If it had zero emissions too I can't see a case for batteries...seems the lazy way to go for me.
Rant over, thank for listening!

It is, however with the gas prices rising every day and the electric car incentives it makes it hard for the average person not to want to go electric. I really do believe the gas prices are a ploy to push people into EV's sooner. They want most people driving EV's by 2025..
