Not to beat a dead horse, but per the CARFAX report my car was Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned on 11.17.21. I bought it 12.5.21. Doesn't certified pre owned cover anything?

It lost the CPO when the sale went through a non-Porsche dealership.

CPO only transfers in a private party sale. It does not transfer if it went through a dealer.

That's questionable. I believe it's changed recently

This is most likely what happened. However, being an electronic doodad, they can just outright fail with no warning, too. Something inside goes 'pop' and that's all she wrote. If you are interested, google the shop that rebuilds Tesla cells. They have a YouTube channel where they document the failures and fixes of some of the units. It's pretty interesting.

This new warranty does not apply to vehicles sold as CPO prior to December 1, 2017 or vehicles with an existing 2 year/100,000 mileage warranty while still covered under the new vehicle limited warranty. This warranty is not valid if sold by any non-authorized commercial dealer or broker. If this vehicle is traded to a non-authorized Porsche dealer or broker for resale purposes, the Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is void.

Maybe I'm not Porsche material after all.....
Sorry about that. I too feel your pain. Porsche does comes with recurring sticker shock. Escapslly dealer service. $600+ for oil service.
Last week I replaced the rear fog light (that a kindly person smashed while my car parked) $452.00 Done at an indy.

That bites. Yes, I was fully anticipating higher service costs, it's a high end vehicle. I guess my gripe was a 20,000 repair bill 5 days into ownership. And, like I said, I would simply pay it and move on. But the 2 year warranty on the new batteries sucks. I surely don't want to be back in this situation facing a potential 20,000 AGAIN in 24 months......

So what did you wind up doing?
Was the shop in CA able to provision a rebuilt battery?
Did selling dealer do anything to resolve?
Did you contact Porsche to see if they might help?

Agree that if warranty on new unit is only 2 years, rebuilt makes much more sense.

Hey Amphicar. I got hold of customer support and requested a goodwill warranty via an email and left my cell number. Porsche called me back and said they'd open up a potential warranty claim for me. I didn't post anything as I'm still waiting to hear back. The prior dealership guy was willing to contribute a few dollars, I think around 4,000.00. He was vague about it.

I'll provide an update as soon as I can.

Thanks
Alan

Good morning all. A quick update on my situation for those that care, and I guess those that don't too. LOL. I finally heard back from Porsche USA and it's not good. Basically they said that they took into consideration my plight, but felt that it wasn't enough to have them provide a goodwill warranty. This was very disapointing to hear. I'm more surprised than saddened by this. I cannot believe they wouldn't offer something. He even said that they take into consideration age of vehicle and mileage. It's only 7 years old with 22,000 miles!!!! Not sure what it takes exactly to get a goodwill warranty. I thought this would have been a prime candidate for one....

Sorry to hear the news. I agree that it seemed like a Prime candidate for Porsche to step up and do the right thing. Given the low mileage, barely out of warranty on the battery, that it was recently CPO certified even though that did not carry over via flip to used car dealer, etc.

Considering that Porsche charges 5x the price of a similar size Prius battery, it seems like they could have done something and still made money.

On a whole, I sadly feel that Porsche does not stand behind its products. IMS bearings, cracking taillights, battery failures, etc. They just treat these as a further opportunity to gouge their customers. As I have said before, I think many owners take a perverse pleasure in being gouged. For many, not all, a Porsche is just jewelry to show off how wealthy they are. Paying through the nose for service and repairs further reminds them that they are rich and ensures the commoners will never own a Porsche.

Do other car companies act any differently?
