(My car is 970 panamera from 2015)
I am considering purchasing an android head unit to replace the old PCM on my car.

The new one has optical fiber digital output, so I am wondering whether the old PCM finetune the sound digitally?
I dont mean the equalizer like "Bass/Balance/Treble" since I never use them, I mean something like making a better echo effect based on internal shape of the car or making time difference for each speak to make the sound from each speaker arrive the driver as the same time?(but I cant find any setting about this)

If the PCM has such finetuning on the sound(although I guess it doesnt, since it's too old), changing to new head unit might hurt sound quality I guess.

I learned long ago, dont chase the sound systems in cars. Unless you have a a few thousand to burry in the car you will never recover.
