Default Panamera Diesel Rim upgrade.

First time Porsche owner. Just bought the 2013 Panamera Diesel. I don’t like the current Wheels on it. Would it be advisable to upgrade to 20inc rims ? Are their specific Porsche rims that will work with the vehicle or any 20inc Porsche rims would work? Please advise.

attachment is the current rim at the moment.

Attachment didn’t seem to work so can’t see your current set-up.

All OEM Panamera rims from 2010 - 2016 should fit. 20” makes a big aesthetic change compared to 18” or 19”. Can often source a used set on Craigslist, eBay, or on these forums for a reasonable price. Curb damage is usually easy to get fixed (usually about $150/wheel). Tougher to ensure they aren’t bent but a wheel refinishing shop can often straighten minor bends.

I have bought and sold many wheels over the years and currently have 3 wheel sets for my Panamera. Turbo II wheels are very nice. There are aftermarket options too but can get expensive for custom-made wheels.

Post some pics of your current set-up and the guys here will give you suggestions.

Sorry about the images. I have re-uploaded them.

thanks for responding.

I have the factory 18’inc currently on. I want to upgrade to the 20’Inc. I am just worried if it will have any negative effects. I really love the look for the 20’s. What should I look at for if I do the upgrade and which 20’s will be better fit?

Have a look through the picture thread , that’s a great start to see what folk run. The std turbo wheels are very smart as mentioned above .

The biggest negative effect is a shorter sidewall which means less cushion over rough roads. It's much easier to bend a 20" wheel from hitting a pothole than w/ an 18" wheel. You'll find some forum members running 22" wheels, so 20" isn't too extreme by any means.

The 20” wheels for the 970 Panamera (2010 - 2016) are:
  1. Turbo II
  2. 911 Turbo Design (also called Turbo III)
  3. Sport Classic (came in hyper silver and also black spokes with machines lip)
  4. Panamera Sport (came silver and also black with machined lip)
  5. RS Spyder

IMHO, 18” is too small a wheel for a grand tourer like the Panamera. 19” is better and 20”
is perfect. That being said, I have 22” as my summer set up!

Panamera Sport wheels also came gloss black with a machined lip.

Thank you for the response. I agree with the 18, it doesn’t look quite right. I am looking around to find a 20’Inc at a good price. Excited to see the look after the upgrade.

If you live in a snowy climate, keep the 18" wheels and put dedicated snow tires on them for year-round driving. Get the narrowest fitment you can for best traction.

I don’t live in a snowy climate. Hasn’t snowed where I live all my life 🙂. I really hope that doesn’t change on account of my rims 😀. The 20’Inc will be perfect for me.
