Default Steering wheel upgrade

2012 turbo CPO. I would like to swap the steering wheel for a newer multi function. I see many people doing it independently, but my local Porsche dealer says they can’t do it. I want an authorized Porsche service, to protect my CPO. Thoughts? Thanks!

I'd wager that it's not gonna happen. I don't think it is an approved use of the later-model wheel.

All the dealers around here refuse to even change a non heated 971 steering wheel to a heated variant. It's two parts and a code but not a sanctioned upgrade or change they say.

Here's a link to an old post "970.2 Panamera Sport steering wheel retrofit..." about someone upgrading the steering wheel of their 970.2 to a 971 steering wheel. You might want to try and PM them for any specifics on the installation as they could probably help you more with this project. Good luck.

I'm sorry to read this. I was doing a Search here for this very question: upgrading to a heated steering wheel. I am going to call the dealer I purchased the car from, but now I have a feeling they are going to tell me it cannot be done. This is for a 2018 Panamera 4S.

It can be done at a shop; you buy the wheel, clock, and a code. There is a Russian guy which will sell you codes at a 100 per, the internet seems to think he's legit although it's not a great term to use for someone selling black market codes. Then you just need to find a Porsche shop with the software to put the code in. The wheel can be DIY'ed if you've the skill and inclination.
