Porsche Connect - Remote Start
What the heck is going on at Porsche? For someone who lives/drives in colder climates, the presence in my Volvo XC90 is a huge improvement in quality of life.

Porsche specifically cautions against letting the car idle unattended. Plus they say this: "Do not warm up the engine when stationary. Drive off immediately."
Most people who are familiar with how engines operate and especially people sensitive to engine longevity know that extended warm ups have the potential to damage the engine.
In addition, the Panamera offers heated seats, heated steering wheel, and it has a sophisticated thermostat which allows for quick engine warm up.
And nobody is talking about putting an immediate load on the engine. I typically start the car and then fasten the seat belt, check to be sure the mirrors are properly adjusted, check the headlights to be sure they're in the desired position, and possibly select a GPS destination and/or tune the radio. This usually takes around 30 seconds. Then I drive away keeping an eye on the oil temperature to be sure I use moderate rpm (but not too low) and partial throttle (low loads) until the car warms up properly.
When it's cold outside I find the heater warms the car very quickly and the heated steering wheel and heated seats do a wonderful job.
When it's warm outside, I can turn on max AC and enjoy a blast of ice cold air literally in a matter of seconds.
In other words, the time I spend in my car being too hot or two cold is always very short and I don't find it uncomfortable at all.
So I'm happy and so is my engine.
But if you're happier doing something else, suit yourself.

They create a stupid *** that can't be permanently defeated (so they can fudge their mpg) but refuse to deliver a Remote Start... oh well...
