Default Hatch not opening pressing door button

I'm pressing the button to open the hatch and it never opens. I've tried with engine on in park, engine off in park, nothing seems to open it unless I take the key out of the ignition and press the hatch open on the fob. What am I missing?

Note, I do NOT have the hatch lock button on the hatch, just the open button.

sounds like the button has gone bad. when you say it doesn't open, does it try and not do it or simply not do anything?

Nothing happens at all, hatch itself works fine when I use the button on the hatch or on the fob. Nothing happens when I hit the button on the door. Is there a safety feature I'm not seeing?

Could be a bad switch on the door and should be easy enough to replace. The entire mechanism is now available after market and not one of the finest engineering designs - several of my window switches were broken or damaged when I bought my car w/ 28k miles on it.

my bet is on a bad switch, no safety feature that I'm aware of

Thanks, I'm under warranty so I'll take it in. Just need to find the best dealership in my area, there are too many. (NYC).

My '12 is like this too, but on occasion I have gotten it to work- just don't remember if it was with the engine on or off, key in or out.

Seems like the only time I can get it to work is with the engine running in Park. However it is obvious that the switch is not good. Really do have to press hard and hold. (the hatch stops opening if I stop pushing)

Mine was a user issue, I thought it operated like the keyfob. The car needs to be ON for the door button to work, it's also press and hold.

I always turn off my car and then hit the button, it was never working. So now I have to take the key out and hit the FOB button.

The car needs to be on, and you need to hold the hatch open button. It intentionally stops when you let off of the button.

Thats how my '11 works, and how every first generation Panamera I've test driven worked.
