Default Observations

I love my new-to-me 2012 P4. A couple of observations, however.

I don't have a self-dimming rear view mirror. My '07 997 CS has it. Wish I had in the P4. Retrofit an option?

I HATE THE UNLOCK DOOR FUNCTION! You have to press the fob twice to get all the doors to unlock. It can't be programmed otherwise to my knowledge. I wonder if it can be reprogrammed by a dealer? Anyway, I forget, want the open passenger or rear door, only to be frustrated. And, the button on the console couldn't be placed in a worse position. They should have put it in the driver's door.

I've had cars that don't heat my feet well enough in the winter. Mercedes especially. Cayenne barely gets the job done. But the P4 does a great job. For all the complaints about the old air-cooled 911 system, I thought it was fine. You could direct hot air on your feet and a mix of cool and hot air up.

I've got an early 2013 P4, european model, and it's a 970.1 like yours. When I unlock the doors the four doors do unlock but sometimes, I don't know what it's related to, the rear doors are locked while the front ones are unlocked (maybe after I start the car? Or after I start driving?) Then Mrs. knocks on the window meaning "I can't get the kid out" and then I need to press TWICE on the console button to lock/unlock. If I press only once then I lock the front doors too, then a second time and I unlock them all. It's been a year and a half I daily drive my P4 and never looked into that much.

I never understood neither how to set the volume at which the audio starts playing.

But the one who drove me really mad: I could open the trunk using the remote, but not close it using the remote. And because the remote is powerful, I'd sometimes, by mistake, open the trunk while I was already far from the car. But then had to walk back to the car to close it. This pissed off a few times and then one day I came back to my car to find the trunk wide open: that's when I took my remote apart and physically blocked the trunk-opening button : )

Don't get me wrong: if I could both open AND close the trunk with the remote, I'd use the remote. But having a remote that only allows to open the trunk but not close it makes, to me, about zero sense!? : )

I still have my good ol' 1988 Carrera and, yup, that's quite a complicated heating system these cars have!

Does this address your concern...? The interior door lock controls were moved to the door on subsequent model year.

Good observation, martinced. I’ve wondered about remote control of the trunk, too. So unPorsche like.
