Default PPF Removal

My CPO 2016 4S came with PPF installed on the front 1/3 of the hood, front bumper, and the leading edges (mirrors) and so on. It's starting to curl a bit, particularly just under the front bumper, and some dirt's getting in there. Also, it's dam hard to get the bugs cleaned from the film.

I believe this is a 3M product, and it was installed before the car was delivered to the original owner.

If I want to remove, will that require a trip to a PPF specialist?

I had the same issue w/ my car except that it had been on even longer and was in need of replacement. I took it to a shop where they removed the old and put on new, and IIRC they charged $100 to remove all of the old film and prep the surface so I don't believe there was a ton of work involved. I think the only tool needed is a hair dryer to heat up the film and it basically peels off. Good luck w/ your project!

BTW, when they put on the new film they covered the entire hood so it's completely protected and there's no line running across the hood anymore (only on the fenders).

Thanks; I think I'll let this get torn up through one more Maine winter, and then replace in the spring.

The line on the hood bothers me as well, and I've gotten a couple of chips above it already. Dr. Colorchip to the rescue.
