Well, just to bring a bit of closure to this thread I started. I really struggled with 2018 Turbo vs 2020 GTS decision, so I just did the shameful thing and went for a 2020 Turbo order. I've got a day or two to change any options before it's final, but I'm very pleased with my configuration. The feedback here has been super helpful and I really appreciate it.
Ended up with:
Volcano Grey Metallic
Black interior
Paldao wood interior
21" 911 Turbo Design wheels
Premium Plus Package
Sport Package
SportDesign Package in high gloss black
4-zone climate
Park assist Surround view
A couple other small things -- tinted LED taillights, black logo, model, handle inlays, etc.

The two items I'm still debating are:
1) The 2+1. Really like that rear seat console, but folks here make excellent points on the benefits of that extra seting.
2) Wheels. My wife really likes the black or matched painted wheels, but I prefer the more classic look of the 21" 911 Turbo Design or the 21" SportDesign in platinum.

Three months (or so) to build. Doing the LA delivery thing as well (live in San Diego, so can't resist).

So, now we wait.

Thanks again.

Nice build...I’d think about adding three items after living with my ST for a few weeks:

1. Led matrix headlights lights they make a big difference especially if the laws change and they unlock all the lighting features ( I don’t have this. I did the led headlights which are just ok)
2. ACC or ACC with innodrive if you do long distance drives on highways or in high traffic areas (I have this and where I am I have a lot of traffic and drive on highways so it’s a pleasure to have the option)
3. Ambient lighting plus can’t be added after and brightness up the interior at night enhances the interior environment (I don’t have this and wish that I did. I find the interior at night to be devils and uninspired compared to other modern cars for $500 its worth it)
4. Rear axle steering the car turns on a dime and can make a u turn anywhere. It’s a longggg car and it helps.

Not sure how! But i picked up a 2018 4s sedan w the 2+1 seating! Definitely makes my life easier when driving the kids around.

Thanks. Aren't you getting close to taking delivery on your 2020 Turbo? Interested to hear your impressions.

Thank you. Indeed, I'm on board with the LED headlights and rear axle steering. The former is included in my order via the Premium Plus package and the latter is included via the SportPackage, so I'm covered on those. I had considered the ambient lighting but not selected it. Your feedback has convinced me, so I'll call in that change today. Regarding ACC/innodrive, I'd not considered it previously. I work from home and do almost no long-distance driving. We take the LR4 when hauling kids around, and given the amount of stuff typically required, I don't see that changing. But, it's an intriguing feature, so maybe I'll give it a second look while I still have time.

Small question: There's a $150 "Retractable Luggage Compartment Cover". Are there "disadvantages" to that? Obviously not a $$$ issue, but if it rattles or otherwise is undesirable, I'd be curious to know.

Hah! Yeah, that was certainly one of the easier decisions in the process. I respect that some folks can hear and appreciate the difference the Burmester makes. I'm just not one of those folks...

My ears are toast, tinnitus, lose of high frequency, But I can really hear the difference in my car with the Burmester, some music I've listened to for years sounds almost like new songs as I'm hearing things that I've missed before

that could be partially to the fact the car is so well sound isolated, I can have a conversation with my daughter while she's int eh back seat and still hear the music clearly (can't do that in my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee, it's one or the other )
I have the retractable luggage cover, I think it has 2 advantages over the hard cover, 1) it is easy to retract if you find yourself need in to haul something a little taller, 2) it's easy to remove and keep int he car if you need all the room in the back
I've also hear it lets more bass thru

I would say I have a highly trained ear and while the Bose is obviously not the best sound system I just cant justify $5500 for a car stereo. The Bose is well within acceptable parameters for car audio. No one is paying that for home sounds systems these days and I spend way more time in a home environment

Regarding the retractable luggage compartment cover, it's worth it to me. You lose a little bit of luggage space when it is installed, but the unit itself comes out quickly and easily. Since the cargo compartment is visible, I like being able to cover our purchases with the cover when necessary. But even if you have the unit in, you don't have to have the compartment cover latched so it extends. However, if you are using your LR4 for the kids and trips, you might be able to forego this option.

Also, I've never noticed the cover making noise. The only noise I've noticed on my Turbo is the occasional squeak (maybe not the best descriptor) from the sunroof during the summer months. Easy enough to address that issue though.

Yes, latest eta 11/18. It’s been a long five months trying not to wish time away. I’ll show it off on this thread when I pick it yp

If you are willing to spend another chunk of coin the PDCC with PTV+ does wonders on these big cars. The PTV+ really makes the front end feel agile and responsive to steering input even when driven well below aggressive speeds.

Nice, it’s going to be a great build. Yes read up about the ACC/Innodrive it might be worth it for you. The traffic jam assistant in the innodrive, for my use, makes it worth it. Also go with the 2+1 it adds flexibility to an already great car. I have the retractable load cover I thought it was standard!

I never use innodrive and leave it on ACC at all times; there are a lot of pros and cons with it so I'd read up on it before I jumped in.
