A little travelling

I got a chance to take a trip across Florida to see some friends, having had my new to me ride for about 3 weeks. This car was blissful to travel in, and despite some heavy downpours and a lot of standing water throwing up rooster tails here and there, my ride was very comfortable and not too disturbed by the errant weather. I averaged 27mpg, including a fair bit of light city driving. It's nice having such a great range; I figure on the highway, I can get around 650 miles. On the way back, I passed a very nice bright blue 718, and for the next 80 or so miles, enjoyed a bit of company as we maneuvered around slower traffic along our sunny drive. I did not get a chance to say hello, but some camaraderie is always nice.
Anyone here have the opportunity for a spontaneous cruise with fellow P-car drivers?

There's no better long-distance cruiser, in my opinion, than the Panamera. I started a thread on my 2.5-week cross-country trip last summer, here:

I agree so much that I’m putting on miles at an alarming rate, like 6000 in 4 months. If I keep this up it’ll be the most ever in a year for me by far. Worse, I’m accelerating the depreciation on my most expensive auto purchase ever 😂 not to mention burning through my warranty more quickly 🤣
The car is simply a joy to drive.

That looked like a really nice trip Comet; interesting note on the gas cap time limit. We have a minivan, so in all likelihood any cross country driving will be in that. I found that when I put the lumbar support too far forward, it was uncomfortable; it really takes a bit of experimentation to get the position just right.

It's not touring, but I'm in my Panamera a couple hours a day - just over 100 highway miles round trip to work. I'm sure other cars in this class offer similar comfort, but I'm pleased to have a quiet and comfortable commute. I came from 2 GTIs before this, and the difference is stark.
My 2016 4S (CPO) had just under 10k miles when I picked it up, and I'll be doing 20-25k miles/year on it. I was happy to let the first owner take that depreciation hit!

We just got back from a 2,000 mile run in the Panamera. Notable is that on the way back we started at noon and ran about 800 miles by 9P. I drove all the way with speeds for a good piece of it varying between 90 mph and 130 mph. At the end of the run, I wasn't even slightly tired. I doubt any lesser car would have left me fresh as can be after all that driving.

I did 1 750 km (a bit more than 1000 miles) in one go (driving from Belgium to Spain or from Spain to Belgium) about four times already (well besides stopping to grab something to eat / drink / fill the car) with my little 3.6 V6 Panny. No problemo. Last time I did it in slightly less than 14 hours doors to doors: average speed, including the stops, 125 km/h (about 77 mph).

I did St Ettiene to Leeds in a day, took a number of red bulls to keep me going, think that was 800miles. Took us through the centre of Paris too which was not pleasant in a big car,
Part of a round trip over 4 days via MulHouse/Basel - that was 2k miles.
Looks like will be doing Leeds to Lyon and back in long weekend in October.
Just did Inverness to Leeds yesterday with various tourist stops along the way - Ben Nevis, Fort William, Not huge miles, but 9 1/2 hours driving there abouts.

Excellent: I tend to drink Red Bull too when I drive long distances! Yup 1750 km in a day is a bit too much. My usual trip is 900 km and that's really fine: especially at 175 km/h on the Spanish highways (if you get caught below 180 instead of 120 you just get a fine and don't have your license removed on the spot). My typical drive is Spain to France (or the other way): no direct flights to Saint-Tropez (and closest airport is one hour and a half drive) so flying + switching plane + driving anyway one hour and a half from Nice to Saint-Tropez means 6 to 7 hours... So I prefer to take the Panny and drive 8 to 9 hours and enjoy the luxury and sound system and, well, I enjoy the speeding a lot too : )
All this in my "little" 3.6 gasoline / 300 hp Panny but sometimes I'm already thinking about switching for a GTS!
I did 30 000 km in a year with the Panny and I'd say 80% of these have to be highway driving. Dunno if the GTS really makes sense for cruising on the highway: the little 300hp is plenty enough to cruise at 175 km/h for hours.
