Traded in my Targa 4 for a 2012 Panamera Turbo S - extended warranty?
my Targa never had any issues and owned it for 8 years... The roof made noises so that was annoying but loved the car. Kids are getting bigger so I upgraded..
The Turbo S us a beast and I love it. I ha e 30 days to decide if I buy extended warranty. Dealership gave me 90 days.
They offer 36 months for 6700. I can get up to 10 years too but looking at 3 to 5 years.
Any comparison? I assume it's useful for a turbo... Suspension etc....
Appreciate any experience and feedback..

Ohhhhh nice color. That even looks good with the chrome (most trim look better with the black trim). I was looking for Agate or one of the less typical grey/silver colors, but ended up with black (which is fine with the metallic blend).
Check the brakes, and service history to make sure required fluids have be replaced one time. There is a recall for the turbos which unfortunately removed the special turbos of the turbo S (kind of a scam really) and something for cam sensor bolts or something - look it up. Both may or may not apply. The cars mostly have issues with air suspension which isn't hard to fix just expensive parts. The Air/Oil separator in some cars is flaky and can add to burning up oil - need to watch it. There really aren't a ton of major issues with the powertrain that I've read about, nor many complaining about it which means they are pretty solid! Spark plugs should be replaced at $40,000 miles, make sure that's been done, or work out a deal for it to be done with the purchase if there is no record.
I paid $5500 for a 4yr 48,000 ally exclusionary warranty that covers just about everything. I figured that should cover any major suspension issues that come up, or issues with electronics that don't typically come up. The cars are reliable, they are just expensive if something does go wrong. Since I'm stretching my budget by owning it, and can't afford a $3000 repair 2-3 times a year, it was worth the peace of mind. If that isn't an issue, is there really any reason to pay $6700 for $8000-10,000 in repairs for the next 3-4 years? I guess that's what you need to decide! Make sure its an exclusionary policy (which rather than listing what IS covered, it lists what isn't).
Don't forget to negotiate. They are giving you a price for the warranty. I guarantee its not their lowest price. Is it transferable? Getting a 10 year, that's transferrable, if you're able to get a good deal would help sell the car if you don't intend to keep it.

Who provided ur insurance, i wonder if it is better to go 3rd party rather then thru Porsche.

Am on phone so can't track it down easily but somewhere in the last handful of threads someone posted a URL for a site where you can check whether there are open recalls for the car by entering the VIN. If they've all been performed, the VIN will show zero recalls. Otherwise...

ok I pinged Endurance and they offer 4700 for 48 months / 48k miles. Waiting for the detailed list but sounds much better then Porsche proposed 6700 for 36/36.
all I know powertrain incl. turbos etc are all covered, but devil is in the details
will keep u guys posted.

Ally doesn’t sell direct you have to buy from a dealer. I’m not sure if a dealer would sell you one for a car you bought somewhere else. Sometimes they will. Fidelity is another good one. I’m sure whatever the Porsche dealer is selling is ok you just need to see what is excluded.

I finally got a good quote from a used car dealer from National that only lists whats not included and its 2k cheaper than the Porsche coverage they claim is like new. National is the insurer and I heard great things about it.
Now I get 4 years 48k for 5k vs 8300 from porsche dealer (or 6700 for 36k) On top Porsche had 500 deductible and this one only has 100.
I think that makes sense. Planning to keep the car for 3 years and then trade it in and still have 1 year left which is a great thing to have/offer
