Panamera PDK maintenance question
Was going through the 60K service for my 2013 Panamera with PDk. The question is does the PDK filter need to be changed at 60K or just the fluid replaced?
Also do both the transmission and clutch fluid need to replaced? Please chime in, thanks

Fluid only at 60k, clutch and transmission share the fluid in the Panamera PDK

there's a good DIY on it either here or on 6speedonline (can't remember which) it's not too difficult but does require a tool that can monitor the PDK fluid temps, also you'll need about 9 liters of the DCTF - Porsche calls for Pentosin FFL3 which is about $28-$30 a liter
it should be part of the 60k service if you take it to the dealer aka $$$$$$

Here are threads you should read on PDK for Panamera. All questions will be answered but you must read. Hope it helps.
1. Panamera specific - PDK details and service info
2. PDK transmission reset procedure
3. Panamera specific - PDK transmission Fluid change
After you read all of this and have questions, let us know.

I'm pretty sure the PDK does not get serviced at 60K. That trans shouldn't be touched until 100K. Unless you have leaks or issues, I would leave it alone. I think you also need the Porsche tool, because you have to enable a couple of modules in the trans to fill it. Temp is a big deal too, otherwise if its cold you will over fill it which is bad. Being pro-active is good with these cars, you can fix and deal with anything else on the car, but if you screw up the trans its a replace, you're not going to drop the pan and fix a valve body issue.
Proceed with caution!!

That's interesting, so thinking the dealers can make up their own stuff. From service manual, its every 160K miles or 16 years. There isn't a 60K service for the Panamera based on the service manual.
My dealer also agrees that there is no call for doing PDK under 100K. Service guy has never even written one up, because cars in my area never get to those kind of miles.
I'm not trying to challenge you, just trying to give you all the info that is out there. I have no skin in the game, would be curious what others think.
Do you do track days, towing, or do a lot of mountain stuff, i.e. high demanding applications? I'm just saying your more likely to f*CK something up then actually prevent anything.
Engine oil goes bad because of the emission/egr bs, without that stuff, you could go 20K+ miles. Transmissions are closed and have no outside influence besides heat. If you are running 60K miles hard, track day stuff, a lot, then yeah change it. Otherwise, that oil will come out just as clean as the stuff you put in.
Here's from the service manual. I might be missing something, or found the wrong part, would like to know too.
You can't just swap fluids, here's from ZF the process, this isn't the one in the Panny, but similar approach.

Hope that helps. To others, what are your local dealers telling you about changing the ATF in your Panamera?

NP Mongo747, yes engine oil get contaminated hence the need to change it more often, the PDK oil is also getting contaminated from the clutches, a much bigger issue if you're using launch control very often.
at 60k you only need to change the fluid and it is a rather simple process, I'm sure if you drove the car like grandma all the time you could easily and safely go to 160k. (but where's the fun in that? :-)

fyi to you and everyone else who is willing to take advice. They said same thing at Porsche about the coolant fluid, and about the transmission fluid too. No need to ever replace.
Then as people started getting failures, Porsche shops started doing them sooner.
Yes, PDK fluid change should be done at 60k miles. You can get only fluid done at 60k miles, then at 120k miles do fluid and filter/pan (about $300 extra for parts).
The only thing you will lose by doing fluid change is get new fluid into the PDK, which can actually make it work just a bit better. Dropping $150k-$200k on a car and not doing fluid change worth $250 is not sound protection to me.
That is my opinion, but its just me. You should do what you want, it was your money spent on the car.

That's exactly what I did, and I feel better about it! I changed the oils in both front and rear diffs as well, plus a new PDCC Reservoir. I changed the plugs and two weeks later a coil began misfiring, so they all got changed as well. Care runs great. Just added the sprint booster and got rid of the noticeable turbo lag. I love driving the PTT. At 60K miles it was wise to give it some TLC.

Thanks for all the info, just had another question. Seems like the front final drive transmission requires Shell TF0951. I came across the RedLine DCTS 31004 on the ECStunning site.
Would it be safe to use this or is it the same as the Shell TF0951? Let me know thanks
