Discovered something new
Went for a nice drive with the local PCA branch, and while driving I noticed that the oil ran cooler while in Sport mode vs Comfort mode.
10-15 degrees cooler, when I first noticed it I thought it might be because of the speed we where running, but I switched modes at the same speed and the difference was still there.

Likely because the engine is running at a higher RPM in Sport mode versus Comfort for at the same steady speed. More coolant circulation through the radiator.

possibly, but I know on a few occasions I overrode the sport mode and shifted into 7th, I'll have to check that again, but I'm pretty sure that was where I was when I noted it.
same speed in 7th = same engine RPMs
Time for more driving :-)

911s have the same behavior. It has something to do with fuel economy.
@dudecs, that is a reasonable hypothesis but engine RPM doesn’t have anything to do with it. The minute you switch into Sport or Sport+ mode, the oil temp will start dropping.

This is info from the Panamera "AfterSales Training" manual from 06/2010. Confirms that temps are adjusted in both Sport and Sport Plus modes.
