Default New Panamera Owner

Greetings all!

My “Porsche Story” is probably different than most. I was actually in the market for a Lexus LS460L. At first it was only to be a "dignified Sunday Driver" (I am a sales executive and an associate minister) but I decided to change my criteria to make it a daily driver. We looked at several of them and while nice, with my long legs and two replacement hips, I could never get the seat just right to make the car comfortable. It was also a nice "sensible" choice but it never made my blood boil.

With my wife’s urging, I went back to the drawing board. She asked me point blank, “What would you LOVE to have?”

Well, I have always lusted after a 944 – since I was in college in the 80’s. I also had been keeping tabs on the Panamera since before it was introduced. The concept of a 4-door Porsche was always something that appealed to me but I’d never actively pursued it. I answered her by saying. , “Well – the Porsche Panamera is a VERY COOL car.” She was like, "Ok - Let’s find one!

A day later, we bought this car. It's a 2013 Panamera 4, Platinum in Basalt Black, CPO with 25,000 miles. I LOVE THIS THING. It makes me grin every time I look at it, it fits like a glove, and it drives like a dream. I was worried about the maintenance but with the Porsche CPO, I got 2 years of unlimited bumper-to-bumper coverage.

Sometimes I feel like it screams, “HEY -- LOOK AT ME” a little more than I’d like but truthfully, it’s no more ostentatious than a 7-Series BMW or an S-Class Mercedes and its way more fun to drive.

I can’t wait until the Minnesota weather breaks so I can properly enjoy it!

IotaNet, Congratulations!!!! What a beautiful car you have there. You definitely made the right decision over a Japanese Lexus...
Best of luck, and treat your wife nice for making you go this direction!!

All Lexuses are Japanese.

Ervin, you don't say..... I would never have known that all Lexuses are Japanese....
My point was that IotaNet was better off with a German car than a Japanese car. But thanks for feeling you had the need to correct me...

No need to bring nationality into the conversation. German cars are objectively better than Japanese cars.

I would think Japanese cars are more reliable than German cars in general.

Sure, but reliability isn't that important.

I have had mine for 3 years now and still love it. Just be sure to get those cam controller bolts replaced under the recall. I lost my engine when they broke. Porsche is replacing it, but 4 weeks without the car.

If I'm not mistaken, that recall was for V8's -- mine is a 6. That said, thanks for the heads-up!

Good point and you are correct. Only for the V8's.

Actually, on further research, it appears that it is also for Panameras and Panamera 4's (which are sixes). Luckily, it is only on 2011-20212's and mine is a 2013.

That said, because people come to these forums for info, I think that we can agree that it's wise to document the situation correctly for everyone.

Attached is a copy of the letter from Porsche that was posted elsewhere.

The fact that PCNA has issued a recall on my "2010-2012 Panmera Turbo" fills me with confidence in their thorough attention to detail.
