I just picked up my 2018 Panamera 4s at the end of December. Car had about 9000 miles on it (was a Porsche executive car). Anyway, driving to work today, I was greeted with a bright yellow CEL. Grrr....
I was hoping it was something as simple as a loose gas cap (i fit get gas last night) but I made sure it was tight and i've started and re-started the car several times already, but the light is still there. Am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm just curious if there are any common things that might trigger a CEL so early in the engine's life?

If it's the gas cap thing, it's going to take a few hundred miles for the light to go off. Don't take it to the Stealer yet. Wait a week.
Get a Durmatric and reset the light. Then wait.

i did a quick search and it doesn’t look like the Durametric supports the 971 Panamera yet. Only the 970.

If it's under warranty (2018, right?) a dealership visit really can't hurt. I keep an OBDII reader on me to check error codes for situations like this - if it's gas-cap related it helps confirm it, but otherwise, waiting 150-200 miles and at the same time re-filling the tank can help.

I have the Blue Driver OBDII tool. I wonder if that will work?

I agree. Don’t freak out. You can drive all day with the CEL staring at you.

Even if it’s still under warranty, I’m afraid the dealer will find ways to get you to fix stuff. Can a generic OBDII code reader reset the light? Anyone ? Anyone? I would reset the light and drive to see if it comes back.

It should be able to, yes. If your dealer is trying to get you to pay for stuff while under warranty, you should find a new dealer.

So I used the Blue Driver to turn off the CEL. The code was P2097. See image below

Could definitely be a gas issue. Clear the CEL, fill up tank with new gas, give it a few days and see if it comes back.

Defective O2 sensor is a pretty common failure, sometimes the wires leading up to them and it will throw that code.

We have a winner! Turned out to be an O2 sensor. They replaced it today. Does that seem odd to have that go after only 11000 miles?

So the CEL returned on Saturday. I called up dealer and they asked me to bring car back next Monday (02/24) because they want to keep it for a few days. Is this typical?

It’s typical in my experience when they’re stymied.
