Default PCM ConnectPlus - SIM Card display

Trial SIM expired. Got my new SIM card installed and working in the Panamera but it displays differently to the trial card. The trial SIM card was from EE Network and was a 4G card. When inserted it displayed as “LTE” for the connection type. New SIM is “ID Mobile” card (aka the “Three” network) from Carphone Warehouse. This is also a 4G SIM. I tried it in my iPhone and sure enough, works, connects to 4G ok. If I then insert it into the car (was sat in car when tested in phone) it works OK but only ever displays “3G” it never shows “LTE” and I’ve never seen PCM show “4G”.

My car was built in April 2017 and I think there have been some PCM updates I probably need to get installed. Anyone got a car (in UK at least) that ever displays "4G" or is it only ever "3G" or "LTE"?

PCM "display" bug?

Car displays LTE - never 4G.

Not sure what to suggest - but cannot see how it is a bug if your old sim worked fine. Good luck!

Thanks for quick reply. Well I can switch SIM I only got it yesterday. Might have to just go for another EE SIM.

I am also in the UK and have a 2017 P 4S. I carried on with the EE sim supplied by the dealer by taking out a new contract when it expired. So the display has always shown LTE.

i'll be honest...i may have jumped the gun....when i put the Vodafone SIM in it to said "3G" but because it was Vodafone I could test it in my iPhone and 4G was working.

put it back in the car and then in options went for "Manual" network selection instead of automatic. I then picking "Vodafone" and it connected and flipped to LTE.

Its possible the ID-Mobile SIM I got rid off may have done same had i thought about it at time but i'll stick with this one as I got more "data" now so kids can connect to the WIFI without me having to think about hitting my monthly limit.
