Wanted to get you guys input on this. I put in a order and deposit for a 2017 4S In March 2017, and was told I'd receive it at the end of June. (Have texts from salesperson) I followed up in April to and was told June. In mid May, I went in for a 2nd test drive, and was excited, thinking I had about a month to go until I got my car. Well, before I left, I saw my name on a paper on the desk and pulled it.. It was my name on a order, but not the car. So, I ask the sales guy "what's this" and he gets this "Oh **" face. Come to find out, the order was never put in. The order was put in two days later (moved up to M/Y 2018), and I got a November 2017 date.
My question is this. Do I have a leg to stand on to ask for some type of compensation, or, do I chalk it up as a loss, and just be happy I'm getting the car this year?
From a purely legal standpoint I doubt you have a viable claim for damages. Unless you have a sales contract that specifics a delivery date, which I certainly doubt.
But from a customer goodwill/public relations standpoint, you sure do. I'd raise holy hell with the general manager at the dealership. Is this how they treat a customer? is this how they'll treat you in the future?
The longer your relationship with them, I'd say the better your chances. But then again, if they hope to see your business again...
Since the order is just now being entered, you've nothing to lose by walking away and taking your business elsewhere just for spite. I'd find some subtle way to work that into the conversation.
I think they owe you a break on the price, or some free service, or some significant goodies. A mere "oops, sorry" won't cut it.
Good luck!

The order was put in mid-May and should be here a few weeks ahead of November according to the dealer. I want to ask for free service and other trinkets. I have messages from them in late March confirming a June delivery. No sales contract, just the deposit receipt.
Sounds like a great "error" on their part. You will now have a 2018! Winning
If they start giving you a bunch of free stuff, that's proof positive you paid too much for the car.
Unfortunately, we all make errors in our respected business. We are judged by our customers on how we resolve and fix those errors. We don't give stuff away for free to fix/resolve a problem.
If they truly didn't put in the order but told you they did that's wrong. However it sounds to me like they never had an allocation and were waiting for one in order to put your order in. That also should have been communicated to you. Ask for what you want, at this point what have you got to lose?
They absolutely told me that the order was put in, and gave me a delivery date. I only found out it wasn't true when I saw the car sheet, with my name, but, not the car I built, and then my build was ordered. So, it seems like someone or the dealership got my June allocation, and, I got the next slot after the snafu.
0% off of anything, that's why I made this post. To see if anyone had been through the same, and how they went about it.
That's a whole nother topic.
You should cancel your order. Get your deposit back, and start calling the nearest 15-20 Porsche dealerships to you and buy a holdover 2017 Pano for a heafty discount 10% off MSRP minimum.
How did you order a car with %0 of MSRP ? Didn t think anyone paid full MSRP on a car unless it is so limited that dealers have trouble getting one.
I would take the above advise to start from the beginning on a new deal(get depo back). Then you ll see a discount, LOL. Sounds like dealer wasn t treating you well at all. 8-10% off very possible FYI.
Thanks for the advice. We never talked numbers, just did the build. I was told that the numbers would be discussed when the car hits the dealership. First time doing a build (Always picked off the lot) , wasn't sure what to expect. This board has helped alot to learn the process.
Didn t think anyone paid full MSRP on a car unless it is so limited that dealers have trouble getting one.
Keep in mind, for every guy/gal that walks into a Porsche dealership and gets 3, 5, 10% off MSRP, we need a guy/gal to walk in and pay full MSRP, and get the Zebart, and the wheel insurance, and the fabric protector. It just happened to be GoodHealth22 this time. But, I think we now have that fixed.
