Yeah he had to plan his longer trips around stations that carried E85.
Im hoping to drive his GT-R before he sells it. The closest I came was driving another friend's SR20 S13.

I had one of those as well- a Sil80 with a SR20. Got stolen a few years back. Fun car. Sort of a jalopy.

My friends was a sileighty, almost. A 240 hatch with Silvia front. Pretty much every 240 I've seen would be defined as a jalopy.

Update...

The car was at Champion Motorsport's Open House last weekend.

Last few days the guys have been getting a handle on the AEM EMS Version 1. Not easy since it's about as removed from a Porsche ECU as can be. The old sparkies were removed and replaced with some temporary ones since nobody in this country has NGK BCPR8EIX plugs.

They strapped it on the dyno and started the 93 octane base tune (car came with a tune that wasn't optimal and to be frank I didn't trust that map). @21 psi at 7K rpm the numbers are encouraging, 544whp and 432wtq, 350wtq@3500 rpm. 21psi boost is okay, good enough for street power. A little more refinement will net over 550whp and over 440wtq. The bottom end can support a lot more, 30+psi, although I think 27-28 psi for a high boost application on C16 should be fine. The transmission will fly apart before hitting higher power. It's a bit of a moot point because the temp plugs were getting blown out by the boost above 21 psi.

Quick update-

Visited Miami a couple of weeks ago, checked up on the car. Above 5krpm it gets rowdy, likes to pull hard to the left. Typical higher HP GT-R characteristics, just not used to feeling it at such low boost on 93 octane. They cleaned up the ignition curves at the top and it's quite smooth all the way through to redline now. This is still at 20psi. To be honest it is more than enough on the street.

The R32 GT-R is one of the few newer Japanese cars on my shortlist, and I'm glad they will be legal soon. In the late '60s, '70s and '80s there were some seriously cool cars built by the Japanese, and they're all DOT/EPA exempt.
