My 04 R32 is now FWD only Trying to track down the problem before someone tries to tell me I need a whole new rear end. Thinking it is the Haldex pump. My indy I go to for my 911 and R has never seen an R32 until mine so finding someone with experience is impossible.

Actually, it looks like the first 3 charachters of the VIN will only tell you that it's made in Europe (first character "W"), and that it's a VW (2nd character "V") and what type of vehicle it is (third character "W" for passenger car, "G" for SUV). You need to use the 11th character to determine the assembly plant. In the case of my Touareg it is "D" for Bratislava and the R32 is "W" for Wolfsburg.

Before you tear into the innards of the Haldex pump, check the fuses, including the bunch on top of the battery, and also check the Haldex Controller's wire harness plug. The plug connections can corrode inside the plastic connector.
The plug is behind the differential, tucked up behind a sheetmetal guard.
Hope it's something simple,

After searching and negotiating and having a mechanic conduct a PPI, I found a first car for my son. It's a 2005 model. Had it shipped and he didn't know it was coming. He and I saw this one on the internet. He loved this one but I told him it sold. I just didn't say it sold to me. Anyway, it arrived by truck while he was at school. This is what he found when he got home. Early Christmas for him.
Thanks to everyone for the input, links, and helpful info. We've got some minor repairs to make, including to the rear bumper, but I priced that into the negotiations.
