I've owned one for the past couple of years and enjoy driving it. I haven't tracked it, rather used as a driver. I echo what others here have said about the rear subframe issues, something to sort out with a good PPI. No problems with my cooling system yet.
It's styling is unique and makes me smile when I see it. I see a lot of the roadsters of a similar vintage but few coupes. The S54 engine in the 2001-2002 version make it more desirable, but they are harder to come by.
Overall, very fun car.

Default m

The first new car I bought was a 99 m coupe. I owned it alongside my 944 turbo and later my 84 carrera. The m was a great daily driver and it never broke. Handling was twitchy but could be tamed with some track time. It just never had the soul of the Porsche. Which is why I kept the Porsches along side the m.

I've always liked the styling..never knew the pricing was so reasonable..that Mguide is helpful...I built a R/C over the summer and painted my favorite blue...

I would have a Z3M right now if they weren't just too small. Being over 6' is uncomfortable in them, and with a helmet is just a no-go. Even the Z4M is uncomfortably small.

The S54 Z3M's are becoming collector's items, rare and expensive. Awesome cars.

Getting a PPI done on this S54 Wednesday. I tried to stay away, didnt work..I love them too much. Red would not be my first exterior color choice but I do love the black/imola interior...

Great car IMHO. A roommate had one back in the early 2000's (03/04). The car was a lot of fun to drive. He was 6'3 or so and never complained about fitting in the car. I guess it's one of those cars where if you want to fit, you can.

Welcome to the dark side

Good seeing you over here as well, congrats on the purchase.

OP, I've been around these cars quite a bit. Super fun for a daily, issues are typical to that of any BMW, but the looks and driving experience are more enjoyable than most other models. Just needs a little suspension work.
