My Lamborghini Experience
I just got back from Las Vegas and we had an awesome time there. Great town and great people! While I was there I rented a Gallardo for the day. The car was a blast to drive and the E-Gear was pretty cool at first but I got bored with it after a while. I think a good old fashion manual shift and clutch gives you that little extra experience! The car moves real good and once you get into 2nd 3rd it really takes off. The V10 is a great engine with great noise and power! The music of this engine at 7k rpms is just breath taking! The only down part is that when driving the car and when being in the interior you can definitely feel/see the Audi bloodline. Maybe its best for reliability but for a $270k car I thought things would have been a tad different?! All in all I had a blast and would definitely buy one if I had an extra 100-125k sitting around (used)! People were yelling at us to stop and wanting pictures with the car, we definitely felt like celebrities for a day!
When I was speaking with the rental guy he said the Gallardo is pretty reliable, the only thing that the car needed in the 40k miles was a fuel pump and multiple clutch changes (every 6-7k miles). Ouch! Apparently.. he says Lambo recommends changing the clutches every 10k but since this is a rental they are only getting 6-7k out of them. He also told me a clutch change runs about 9-10k. WOW! Makes you wonder if there is an aftermarket clutch thats a little tougher...
If anyone plans on renting a exotic car in Las Vegas I definitely recommend Las Vegas Exotic Car Rental. Very painless rental process and they even dropped and picked up the car at the hotel we were staying at. The guy/girl we got to drop off the cars (rented a BMW 750LI as well) took the time to go over all the features of the car and left there numbers in case if there were any issues.

I rented a LP640 roadster the last time I was in Vegas. I too have never been impressed with Lambo interiors, and this one even had the nice quilted seats. It just seems a little plain for a $417,000 car. Of course, after spending a day driving that beast around, I knew where the money went. It's big and bulky, and the brakes are so insane(this model had the $17K upgraded ceramics), that driving around in traffic was a bit of a chore. But holy crap, we drove out to the Hoover Dam and, my god, that thing is a rocket ship.
My 911 is far easier to drive. I'm very curious how the new 2RS will feel. Similar HP, yet more precise handling.
As someone said on another forum, driving a 911 is like using a precision surgeons scalpel, driving a Murc is like using a butter knife. I'm sure plenty of you will disagree, but I found the Lambo bulky.

They have F1 style paddles. Lamborghini calls it E-Gear. The early Gallardos were a mess. Avoid 04's unless they have the tranny upgrade.
E-Gear seems weird to me. If you are stopped at a light, or whatever, and you are in first gear and do not keep your foot on the brake, it automatically shifts to neutral. Maybe I'm just too much of a novice to get it, but that seems odd to me.
The problem I had with the 04 Gallardo I drove a few years back, was that it would do this, and then not go back into 1st gear. Real pain in the ***, and I looked retarded at lights. Perhaps I looked retarded anyway for driving a Lamborghini.

Yea I had that happen to me a few times right on the strip. Most of the people thought I was probably show boating anyways when it revved up like that in neutral.
As for the interior comment there is a big price difference between an Audi and a Lamborghini. Call me crazy but I guess I was expecting more advance materials in the interior such as carbon fiber. After all it is a super car... There were also some rattles and some pretty big wear on the seats and dash.
Wow shows the maturity level of this forum. Rent an awesome super car try and share my experience and everyone is making fun of me because i'm wearing sandals?? OK...feel like I'm in second grade all over again. I'm done with this thread! Sandal ON baby!
