OT: AMG Wagon Owners

I leased a new 2018 amg wagon last month, wanted the new tech. I could have bought a 2-4 year old amg wagon for $60-$80k. Never drove the older version. I wanted the new tech, which includes the dual screen dashboard. So my 3 year lease will total in payments close to what a used amg wagon costs today. Also, do not want to own one out of warranty. More fun to drive than my 2014 911 targa, and more practical. I will be selling the targa soon

I currently have a 2016 E63S Wagon (coincidentally for sale in the RL classified) that has been bulletproof for me (touch wood). It is a blast and honestly is the fastest point to point car I’ve owned. To your questions:
1) They are both pretty stiff but the 213 is notably stiffer and more harsh to me. Similar comments from the normal reviewers out there, but you should drive them both to see what you like. A lot depends on the quality of the roads around you and what tires you have. The stock Pirellis are **** and make a lot of noise, also have a very stiff sidewall. Merc specs have pretty high cold pressures given the weight and performance potential of the wagon. It all comtributes to a firm ride. My car is pretty quiet inside, the 213 quieter still but you also lose some of the engine note that you get still in the 212 (which is amazing. I live to start the thing each morning…) Whether the premium is worth it is personal. Right now my 16 is worth about $80 and stickered new at $130 since it had every option and CCB. You could get a new one for $115-120k with decent options minus the CCB, so $35-40k or up to 50% more than a 212. To me it’s not worth it as much as I like the 213.
2) As I noted above mine has been great. Some minor things like a couple of rattles but nothing notable. The 18 MY was rough for the 213. Being new it had a lot of issues. If you get one, make sure to order new. They’re supposedly holding at port till December or so, and allocations for the wagon can be hard to come by so you might have to wait but i’d do it if i were you. The styling and interior upgrades are great, new engine is also solid but loses some of the character of the 212. It’s deinfitely faster when pushed to the max.
3} I can’t imagine a more fun DD that the E63. It is SO fast, a real Jekyll and Hyde car. Mellow when you want, a bit of a sleeper, and very versatile. You won’t come across anything faster (stock) on the street in a straight line.
Sent you a PM. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

I have a 2016 E63 S sedan, and so far almost 3 years and no major issues
it is a great DD
I drove the 213 version and is a very nice car but seemed a little stiffer

I was able to find this new 2018 at a dealer in tx, had my local Benz dealer do a dealer trade to get it. Not too many of these wagons around (heard they are building 300 a year). I wanted the amg night package (black trim) with either diamond white or iridium silver and a later 2018 build date. I did not want to wait 6 months and place an order, so this one worked for me

I lemoned my 2014 E63S wagon back to Merc and they paid full. The car had an intermittent fault in the shifter: only changed forward to reverse by turning car off.... rather dangerous. And wheels.... $2200 a piece. Fast but quite heavy, but for 3 Labrador Retrievers always on board, it was titz... when it shifted

A week later Storm, the guy in the passenger seat, road in the back, passing to cancer. Then in 2016, Sun and Sky followed in the back.... plenty of coffin room

The other option if you can’t find an AMG wagon is the AMG ML63-I believe it is the same platform and drivetrain as the wagon it moves pretty well with lots of room for up to 5. My variant is 560 hp with a 5.5L twin turbo.

How are the w213 wagon owner(s) getting along? I may be looking for a build slot over the next couple of months. A facelift is rumored to be on the way for the 2020 models, a la the CLS...but I think I quite like the 2019 as is.

Loving my 2017. No problems at all (cross fingers) except for a dimwit in a local parking lot who put a hole in the back bumper corner. Fixed now by certified shop.

It was a long time coming, but as of yesterday I replaced my 997 with a dad wagon:
