new M5 is good! like the 4WD / 2WD possibility.
but not a sportscar.
but it can do sportscar track/lap/straight times.
NOS 7.39 sport auto
meaning 7.2x if factory supported action.!?
nevertheless i do miss the V10 in combination with a "sequential box" in a saloon
the worst ideas - are often the best cars

I had an F10 M5 Competition, fitted KW V3, adjustable rolls bars and spent some time setting the chassis up. I t was very, very good, I do miss the grunt and that polished hewn sledgehammer feel. It they could do a little more with arches, wheels and styling I would be interested in the new one when they hit big time depreciation. But looks too ordinary for me. I know that's the point but looking like an ordinary 5 series isn't cool when you see what Mercedes have done.

Three Wheelin'
They did a fine job with the new M5 (except for the hideously designed oversized side mirrors). I had two F10 M5s (one dual clutch and one 6MT), and they were easily my favorite all-around car ever. The new one with defeatable AWD is even better. They suffer from numb steering like most other cars these days, (including Porsche). That was my only real complaint.

They are getting serious respect from the import / drag racing crowd:
