(yes. i do also think they will name it GTO based on the fact Marchionne is a money man and not a man of "securing" the heritage...)

I think/hope there will be more to speak about it at RL - for all the ones which wanted a GT2RS but are left in the lurch.

Same as a post from yesterday: "991GT3RS or 458Speciale?" I for myself would say Speciale. But it is 100k€ more expansive than a RS. Will not be that reliable and easy to maintain as a RS. So if money or thousands of laptimes a year are a topic: RS.
If it is all about drama/experience/goose bumps: Speciale.
I guess the same could occur on 991GT2RS and 488"GTO".

RL TopspeedPT already postet this pic and article in the 488 GTB thread:

I hope F will add with the 488 "GTO" some goodies as: first time (on a regular F car) a retractable rear wing, some other aero miracles, -50kg, rear wheel steering, something else more fancy maybe a electro/hybrid goodie?.

Feeling so pumped having one on order (for delivery 2019...) and to see it live at Geneva 18. if not already a week or two earlier.
I have one on order as well. I just took delivery of my 488 S a few months ago and have absolutely loved it. It is wicked fast, though it does feel more like a GT car than the rawer 458.

I do love the way Porsche drives and the GT cars from Porsche are some of my favorites, but Ferrari can also build damn good cars. Like you, I want a retractable rear wing, though I could do without the hybrid goodies. My plan right now is to have the 488 special edition next to the 812 and call it a day. That is until the special variant of the 812 comes out

i think there is a typo.

991 GT2RS:
700PS
750Nm
Weight: Dry: ?? / Ready to go (full tank): 1.445 kg

488GTB:
670PS
760Nm
Weight: Dry: 1.370 kg / Ready to go: 1.475kg

my guess for the 488"GTO":
720PS
800Nm
Weight: Dry: 1.320 kg / Ready to go: 1.440kg

The 488 in GTB form is pretty special, so the GTO will dial it up. I was lucky enough to spend a day on track with a "pile" or gaggle of 488s and 458s (a few weeks ago). The 488 is a beautiful drive, super balanced, epic turn in, very fast and agile with immense stoppers. The engine response is superb.

To be frank, I haven't been in a Porsche that is really that close - even tho lap times can be close. Basically the 488 feels like a Cayman would (at least in my imagination) if you added a massive dose of torque and horsepower.

I would certainly say on the basis of driving the 488 GTB on track (on Trof Rs) - it lights your synapses up big time, its a tremendous drive, I felt in comparison, the 458 felt its age (and the Italia more so). Its a real scalpel that allows a lot of fine control at the limit.

Good luck to those going for a GTO and I'm not so sure the GT2 RS is a real competitor to the GTO (other than in a numbers sense) as they offer different ownership experiences. (For example, for the track session, I turned up with my full race kit and three layer suit much to the amusement of the Ferrari guys who were enjoying a nice espresso and light breakfast great bunch of people tho - diverse and interesting).

got it!

don´t find that many 488 dyno results.
but i found this: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...put-comparison
as long it pulls like my ex 570s i´m fine with it. (it made out of the factory with around 8.000miles on the clock around 630hp on the crank... )
but i´m with you if it is about sh**y overrating.

at the end i will not care if +-40hp - as long chassis, looks, balance are that good as in the Speciale.
You can forgive a lot if she is looking good and gives you Katchi.

A 488 GTO will be hard to get unless you have a relationship. With options it will probably be around 400K.

Whould everyone prefer that 488 GTO over a 997.2 RS for driving pleasure?

oh lets be real.. a screaming ferrari v8 can never be underestimated.. especially when it's a "special" version of their cars.. it always leaves you with a sense of wonder.

i would prefer the 458 speciale compared with a 997.2GT2or also3RS.

so why not also a 488GTO. where nobody knows anything about it currently.

Kers yes or no?
i say yes. based on a couple of hints. and because than F would be the first ones in the ‚normal’ supercars range. they will not be as fast as a 991GT2. not that sound as a Performante. not that light as a 720s. but something they have to have with the 488GTO. a bit more boost a bit lighter and a fancy or historic name is hopefully not enough for them.
