Hey there, welcome to Rennlist!
If you're looking for 996-specific advice, might I recommend taking a stroll through the 996 subforum. Personally, I'd go for a 996.2 especially with an IMS fix in place, but I'm not exactly a 996 (or IMS) expert.
Happy posting!

If you just want to cruise with the top down and nothing else, get the tippy cab. If you want top down and throwing gears get the 6M. I started with a 2002 996.2 with aero and pse partial leather seal grey over black. I really liked it and it was a super awesome sounding car that was completely reliable and looked great. I then wanted a 40 year
Anniversary model. Couldn’t find one under $45k that was clean and well maintained with documents from a private seller. After much research and being without a 911 for close to 2 years I decided I wanted an “early build “ 996.1 I found one with all the options I required and in my price range (way under $45k) low mileage, clean ,well maintained and documented. Guy I bought it from was less than 50 miles from me, drove out with cash and we arrived at a price we were both comfortable with.
The long and short of it is, there are thousands of 996 available anytime of the year. Do some research, decide what’s a “dealbreaker “ for you and hopefully find a private seller that has taken care of it the best they could. Good Luck!

Congrats. That’s a beautiful 996.
You’ll find great advice on the 996 forums regarding common repairs and modifications. My first Porsche 911 was also a 996 and I loved the car.
