Newbie, w/ incoming 997.2 CS 6-Speed Cab 42k mi (‘10)
Been lurking a couple weeks, since learning I’ll soon have my first Porsche.
Wasn’t exactly in my plans, but a client-friend and I struck a win-win trade.
Long a fan of classic roadsters of the 50s/60s (550, XK120, TR3A, etc.), but no longer with an appetite/spare time for that daydream (aside from a 1:18th collection).
Adored my ‘62 Sprite MKII, and 15 years ago it probably landed me my now wife (and so also three young kids, 6, 4, 1) - but it needed more love than I had time to give (see again: three young kids), and parted with it some years back.
Ironically, I could now un-land that same wife with the arrival of this 997.2 CS.
But the 6-speed Cab will I hope fill that open-top, small-bodied, roadster hole in my heart, while offering far more modern reliability and modern (but still ~analogue) performance.
It’ll be a ‘weekend’ driver (my daily is an F150 Lightning), a hill country cruiser (I’m in central Texas), and a go-to for date night (hopefully with my wife).
But I’m a Porsche newb, and feel I have a lot to learn about care and maintenance of the sort I intend to provide it.
Looking forward to annoying you all with dumb questions and bad ideas.
