As a year round 992 driver here in Chicagoland, here is what I’ve learned in the last 15 months.
1. You will need snows. I put mine on in late October. I believe we got snow in early Nov last year. I also take them off late April since we keep getting April snow too.
2. I’m so happy I didn’t get the SPASM aka “Sport Suspension”. Putting the shocks into sport mode on the regular PASM is bad enough. I can’t imagine how bad the ride would be with SPASM. There was another post from someone here in Chicagoland about his regret for that option too.
3. I am thrilled I got the 4S. While the 2S is probably “more fun” in the dry, there are many more times the AWD provides the peace of mind here - in even the dry.
4. I hate to say it, but I think my experiment failed. My daughter took our MDX to school and now I don’t have that SUV for 1) that trip down 294 to the south side, 2) that trip to go downtown, 3) the run to the airport, and so much more. Heck, even golf with my son got nixed yesterday. So I’m about to pull the trigger on an X3.
