I'm finally a Porsche owner!
Hello All,
After shopping for the past 18 mos or so, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday and bought my first Porsche. She's a gorgeous 2006 911 Carrera, 6 speed manual transmission, black on black. I've attached some photos. The dealership in Northern Virginia was kind enough to take my 1965 mustang in trade. I had mixed emotions letting that car go, as it's been a labor of love for the past 6 years, working on it to get the car just right, lots of good memories associated with that car. This dealership sells lots of vintage cars, I'm sure they'll find her a good home where she'll be well cared for.
But those mixed feelings went away as soon as I got in the 911, drove her off the lot, and took an hour long ride home with almost no traffic, which is unheard of in the DC area. The Porsche gods must have been smiling on me, as I had just a phenomenal driving experience. I got to wring her out a tiny bit. Wow!!! The sound, the feel, the responsiveness, the power, the torque...just incredible. I had a smile on my face the whole drive home. Anyways I look forward to fully embracing the Porsche culture and experience. I've already signed up for PCA, and plan to attend meetings for my region, maybe a track event or two. Hopefully I'll meet some of you fellow enthusiasts in person along the way.
