i am a new member from Saskatchewan, Canada and looking forward to being part of this great group. I recently acquired a 1995 guards red 993 from the original owner and can’t wait to really get to know the car. The early experience of driving the car has been amazing!
Hi Sasky and welcome! Congrats on the 993. Is it your first Porsche? How has the weather been in Saskatchewan? I recently picked up my new-to-me cayman and the weather has been pretty much cold and rainy since. It looks like it's going to clear for the next week or so. I'm excited to get out there.
Hi Dave- this is actually my 4th Porsche- like you I previously owned a Cayman which you are really going to enjoy- from there I went to a 2002 C4S and then a 1987 911 Targa- they have all been great cars and brought a ton of fun- weather here has been hit and miss but on the good days I have made a point of getting out for a drive- really enjoying the 993- hope you have a great summer putting on the miles on your Cayman!
Congrats Sasky and enjoy for many kilometers in the best of health! Please post some pics and I suggest you introduce yourself in the 993 subforum. It’s quite active with owners and I’m sure you’ll receive a warm welcome.
Original owner? Wow! That’s awesome! I also have a ‘95 since August. Just had new suspension installed and the car is transformed. It was on original Monroe’s at original factory ride height.
Hey Dave- I loved the Targa, actually more than I thought I would- it was so much fun to drive. It was my first experience with an older air cooled Porsche and fortunately the previous owner had lavished lots of tlc on it so it was good to go although I did lower it which made a bid improvement on the handling and looks. I really had no plans to part company with it as I really only drove it for one summer but when this local 993 came along from the original owner I couldn’t pass on it!
Thanks NMG! Yes, I consider myself very fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time. There probably aren’t more that 3 or 4 993s in the entire province and this was certainly the only original owner scenario. It’s a very early production car, having been manufactured in January 1994 so actually shows up as a 1994 model on the Porsche data cite but was re- VINd as a 1995 so some interesting history. I want to find out more from the original owner who took possession in April, 1994- I didn’t think the 993 was even available in Canada that early!
i would love to find out more from you about the products you chose when lowering your car as that is one of the things on my list. I have replaced the 17”Cup 2s with 18” hollow spoke twisties so next up is the suspension
yes, I will haul my but over to the 993 forum and make an introduction as I have already enjoyed reading a number of the threads- super interesting and obviously a great community.
