Way too late, but no I don't think he was really all that interested in negotiation. I would have still bought it on the spot at the right price. I think he was banking on someone that was willing to pay up for such a rare color.

Frankly, I'm sure you could find a less expensive car better suited for track duty that didn't need so much mechanical work.

Out of curiosity, did the owner seem like he was willing to negotiate?

I'm down in San Diego. Actually looking to make a weekend/track car. Wouldn't normally do that with such a rare color car but kind of like that this one is a driver.
