    Hey, thanks for your question. That notch was at nearly dead center. Some said it was from wear on the spot that is used most aka when driving straight. However, I saw no visible wear when I took it apart to regrease. So I'm not sure what was causing it. But on the car, its not a problem. I can't even notice it. I had the thought that the notch could be to help keep the wheel straight while driving. Not sure that's the case.

    I read a previous post of your's concerning a tendency of your manual rack to "notch" near dead center when turning it by hand. Did you determine whether this was due to damage/wear or a specific design? I have observed the same tendency in my manual steering rack. Thanks, Ryan
