Sorry I didn't get a notification of your message. The process took about half a day and I think the change was big! My original shifter was quite sloppy, and this took out a little of unnecessary movement in the shifter. NVH not noticeable.

The only think I did not have was a snap ring plier. I tried a few tools to try to work around, gave up, and drove to the hardware store to pick one up.

I think you have to tweak the cable threads a bit to get the right shift mechanism. I think I marked their position before removal just in case.

I found them comparable. However to do it all again I would prob do just the numeric as it’s all one unit. Felt like there was less to mess up, especially something as important as the shifter. It feels maybe 10-20% better too. But I am comparing my older 997.1 which had the short shifter and shift right kit to my newer 997.2 where I just did the numeric.

install is pretty easy. Torx 25/27 to the front side panels. Then a bunch of screws holding the center console in. Everything lifts out. Just make sure car battery disconnected if you disconnect the passenger airbag light as it will cause an airbag light that must be coded off.

No tweaking for me. Just replaced. It’s very straightforward. I just removed everything, made pen marks where the shifter linkage was and reinstalled. The function first didn’t have the best installation instructions. Just remember to tighten it all down.
