1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible – 4-Speed – California Car I’m selling my 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible, a car I’ve really enjoyed bringing back to life. It was originally sold new in California and spent many years in long-term storage before I purchased it in 2022 as a non-running project. In 2023, I went through the car mechanically to recommission it, and it now runs and drives great. The car was refinished in Alpine White under previous ownership and wears a black convertible top. Exterior details include chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, quarter vent windows, running boards, rear stone guards, and a louvered rear engine cover. It has a great classic Beetle look and gets positive attention everywhere it goes. Inside, it’s finished in black leatherette, and the odometer currently shows 19k miles. Power comes from the original-style air-cooled 1.6L flat-four, factory rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. The engine features Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, making it easy to live with and reliable.
