85.5 Firehawk Porsche 944 Project Racecar
For Sale1985 Porsche 944
Description:
85.5 Firehawk Porsche 944 Project Racecar
Running/driving perfectly when it was parked 15 years ago. I traded the car away in 2009 and reacquired it in 2021 in same condition. Listing as project since no attempt has been made to start it since getting it back in 2021. Car is complete, nothing removed since being parked.
A limited number of special edition Firehawk cars were produced in 85 and 86 and went straight from the Porsche factory to the track for the IMSA Firehawk series. This is one of those cars. Built by special order with ‘option delete’ (any option not needed for the track was left off, such as AC and sunroof). After IMSA, this car was tracked by John Abruzzo and Will DiGiovanni on PCA and SCCA circuits as a top contender over many seasons. Became my first track car/racecar in 2005 and was run in five race weekends over four seasons 2005-2008 (Summit Point and VIR events). Minor cosmetic roll-over damage on roof. Roll-over sounds bad but was minimal damage. Picked up oil from another car's blown engine in front of me, then fish-tailed at next turn and entered gravel trap sideways at Summit Point turn 10. Went over once and back onto four wheels then immediately driven out. Video of the race and after the roll-over is online under Hyperfest June 2008 944 Cup Series race. Red flag incident lap 4 can be viewed under Hyperfest on Vimeo. The 7:30 mark where it happened and the 9:25 mark shows in-car footage from car behind. Replaced LF A-arm, had car reinspected then raced the next day. No damage to suspension or chassis.
Again, car is complete, nothing has been removed since it was last on track. Has BBS Wheels, Limited Slip, Coilovers, Log Book.
Serial # WP0AA094XFN453397
$4500 obo. Car is in Minneapolis region. Cross posted on other sites.
