Porsche enthusiast owned 1997 Porsche Boxster 5-speed manual in Pastel Yellow. I'm the second owner. The original owner purchased it new in 1997 on his 47th birthday. It was purchased from Porsche of Manhattan, but spent most of its life in Louisiana. This is the very first year of the Boxster which many people argue is the most reliable 986 engine and transmission. Never tracked or used for autocross. This car is an absolute blast to drive - the Boxster is really having its moment as an affordable, reliable car that will absolutely give you Porsche fever. Selling because I have 2 other Porsche's and just can't justify a second convertible.
More than $4500 in service in the last year to make sure everything was sorted including new plugs, coils, drive belt, cabin/fuel filters, MAF Sensor, oil change, coolant/transmission fluid replacement. Top replaced in the last few years and recently adjusted.
The paint is a rare color and in great condition. There are a few dings from parking lot bumps. The headlights are pretty much as clear as they were new. No interior issues and is in excellent condition for its age.
Carfax available from when I purchased it. It shows a minor accident from the previous owner running into road debris. Unfortunately, in 2021, the car's odometer stopped working and it currently reads 599,999. The original owner rarely drove it (he had a 911 S and 3 other cars) and the last odometer reading was in 2021 with 42,000. My estimate is that the car has between 45,000-50,000, but unfortunately I don't have a way to prove it. I've put about 1,500 miles on it myself.
I'm not aware of the IMS being done and no evidence of bore scoring. Both are said to be rare with this particular engine.
