@duktail Not sure if this it the same car but this is the 997 that Steve Marcus was running in the GS Class of the Grand-AM Koni Challenge in 2008. I took this picture at the VIR event Oct 5, 2008.
This is how the car looked back in 2012. Rebel Rock raced the car. There is some cool video on YouTube that show this car racing at tracks all through it the country. I think they had two cars that season. I am not aware if it has a Porsche Motorsport ABS system. I would definitely say that the car is far superior today than when it raced in Grand Am. The suspension has been developed by wright Motorsports to a level that i have been told is better than a cup car.
A new Porsche Motorsport motor and tranny was installed in 2013 as part of the sale to my friend. He raced it for a few seasons and then bought a cup car so this was not used for a few years until i bought the car back in 2020. I have used it 2 times a year for DEs at PCA events. I usually would run from Friday to Sunday. I had asked him about how much life is left in the motor and he believes that it would be a long time until i would need to be concerned about any rebuild because of the nature of using more stock motor vs a cup car motor. If the aim system indicates the hours I can check that.
I raced against and garaged with this car when it was owned by B Waite. Brad had the car as his main race car until he bought a 997 cup. He then used this as his backup race car.
A very nice car. Cool history. Always maintained well and no DNF's that I can remember from those days.
Thanks
Ed

Engineered Race and Track Products for your Porsche
Ed, thanks for the kind words. This has been the nicest car I have every taken to the track in terms of overall handling and braking. The gearing is perfect for Mid Ohio and Indy. It consistanly runs with GT4's on the track. I had no intentions to ever sell the car but I bought Brad's Cayman race car since he is retiring from racing. This wil l allow me to have my son start doing DE's with me. The newer cayman has a sesq. gear box/PDK which I think will make it a better platform for him to learn. I had tucked it away for the winter fully serviced and ready to go for the next owner. If you don't want to bring you newer GT3 or GT4 to the track this is the perfect car for you because you will be able to run similar times on much less of a budget. The level to which this car has been developed would cost someone three times what I am asking for. Of course, the car is ready for someone that wants to race it and it would be competitive in its class for NASA, PCA, and Champ Car. Lastly, the reliability (operating costs) factor of this car vs. a cup car are night and day. Lastly, the 997 platform offers a more analogue experience vs the more modern 991/992 so the feeling you get behind the wheel is extremely rewarding. I really appreciate all the comments that people have made that know this car and am hopeful that the next person that owns it will appreciate as much as I do what has been done to this car. Cheers!
