Description:

For sale is my 2013 Porsche Boxster with the desirable six speed transmission.  This is my eighth Porsche, but was my first “base” model, and in ways it’s been more fun to drive than some of the faster models.  Clean CarFax with no accidents* and I’m the fourth owner.

The car has a 65K msrp and is loaded with great options, see attached from VinAnalytics.  The top operates flawlessly and when it’s down I swear this car gets way more looks than my GT3. People are simple.

Car is stock except for a FabSpeed exhaust that makes it sound incredible, parking and blind spot sensors, as well as backup camera.

The good:  this is a great driver’s car.  Other than the front bumper (more on that below) it looks and presents amazing and not what you’d expect from a 68K mile car.  The exhaust makes it sound sooo good and the power and chassis are perfect for around town driving.  With options like the heated/cooled seats and Bose w/ Bluetooth audio, it’s a fun little commuter.

I have a folder of service records from 2017, which along with thorough CarFax records show that all required maintenance is up to date.  Recent items:  battery at 56k miles, new rotors and pads at 57.5k, 60k mile service including belt, spark plugs, etc., and an oil change, brake flush, inspection, and new high pressure fuel pump at 67.5k

The bad:  literally the day before I flew down to Florida to pick the car up and drive it back home the owner called and said someone backed into the car while it was parked.  As you can see from the pictures it’s not awful and after a while I forgot about it, but let’s be honest, it’s not great. One could either get the bumper fixed, get a gt4 front bumper, or just leave it alone and not worry about it.

There is a CD stuck in the CD player.  I haven’t listened to a CD in over a decade so for me this wasn’t a big deal, nor was it even disclosed when I bought it. I discovered it on my drive home with the car before I had paired my phone and was toggling through the options, landed on DISC, and marching band music started playing. So if you like marching band music move this to the good box.

When I purchased the car the seller informed me that it needed a new high pressure fuel pump.  At the time they were backordered with no estimate for arrival so I purchased a remanufactured unit.  I had that installed along with the aforementioned oil change, brake flush, etc.  during the inspection the only other item that was found was a broken windshield washer hose, which was replaced.

I drove the car for around 500 miles and it was awesome and drove great.  Then last week out of the blue it threw a code for the HPFP again and had the same symptoms. I reset the code and it has been fine, but the remanufactured HPFP may not be functioning as it should. I since found a track prepped ND2 Club and pulled the trigger, so this has to go.

Clean title in hand.  Asking $27,500 for a quick sale.  I am already taking a bath at that price and have an offer from a dealer at 25k, which is an even bigger bath.  Figured I’d put it on here in case someone wants a nice manual 981 and hopefully it won’t throw that code again.

Default Great low entry car

Full disclosure:

I know this member and we are now friends after meeting at Road Atlanta some 10+ years ago. I have driven this car and believe to be a great first Porsche with its low cost to entry. The owner is honest and straightforward. The fuel pump is intermittent and may or may not be an issue. When I drove the car, there were no warning lights and it drove like a champ. The car looks gorgeous in person.

Seems like a nice deal! I went from an ND2 to a 991.1 and sometimes wish I'd gone Boxster instead to save some money and keep that mid-engine convertible charm. If you're under 6' tall you'll love the ND2.

So the parking sensors and backup camera are aftermarket? Is that part of a CarPlay retrofit kit? Try holding "Info" down on the PCM for three seconds if you haven't already. The CD player not ejecting could also be related to a PCM retrofit since you have to fiddle with the internal cabling.

I have a mint set of the exact seats in this car (Luxor 14-way heated/cooled) for sale in Raleigh if there's any wear on these that a buyer isn't happy about.

Also the calipers are red but the rotors look small to my eyes, are they repainted base calipers or actually S calipers?

I’m a little under 5’11 so should fit fine! It’s the RF model. Super excited.

There doesn’t appear to be a CarPlay kit as CarPlay didn’t launch when I plugged in my iPhone. I tried the info trick a moment ago and there was some whirring so I had some hope, but no dice, the marching band refuses to quit drumming along.

The seats are actually in fantastic shape, no rips or stains, and the heating and cooling work as they should. Other than the front bumper the car looks really nice IMO.

I believe they’re standard brakes and the calipers were painted. My buddy and I looked at them for a long time and that was our takeaway.

Ah, it was worth a shot! There's definitely an older product I've seen (can't remember the name) which adds parking sensors and backup cam, without CarPlay, so that must be what's in there.

Car just got inspected at the Porsche Service Center. Great DME and only “issues” were low key fob battery and expired tire sealant. Pending sale.
