Description:
I ordered this 1999-model Carrera 4 and took delivery in April of that year. I'm the only owner. It's a six-speed manual hard-top with about 101,xxx miles. Since it's a "real" 1999 car, it has the electronic throttle.
This unit is very well-optioned: full leather, supple leather, leather trim. Three-spoke steering wheel. Xenon headlights, footwell interior lighting, and smoked-clear side markers from Germany. The car has the factory aero kit side skirts and taco spoiler, but does not have the canards. Fancy lumbar support power memory seats, with heat. Cruise control and PSM. Sunroof works great! Optional aluminum gauge faces makes a unique, bright dashboard. Leather-covered dash.
The car is in Slate Grey Metallic, which was a custom color that year. Black leather interior.
Michelin Sport A/S 3+ tires on turbo twist wheels with lots of tread left. Plenty of pad and rotor left, too.
IMS has been repaired, and the transmission was rebuilt to replace the output bearing and some parts in second gear. At the start of Covid (April of 2020 or so) I replaced the alternator and starter, including the belt, pulleys, and tensioner. Later in 2020, I rebuilt the suspension completely with Bilstein B6 shocks and all new parts. New inner and outer tie rods, shock tower plate bearings, and roll bar bushings. All control arms and links are new. Immediately aligned at a specialty shop; drives straight and true! LF half-axle was replaced at that time when a torn boot was discovered. The Covid maintenance party wrapped up with new motor mounts.
Short shifter installed to replace worn bushings. Works great!
New coil packs and plugs in 2022. New evap valve at that time, too (the one by the throttle body).
PCCM+Plus system is installed and works perfectly. I did not install the XM Satellite antenna, but it's included. Since I had the PCM 1 system from the factory, the PCCM+ uses that GPS antenna for a super-stealth install. The on-board computer with the steering wheel control still works!
Includes original tool kit, donut-spare, air compressor kit. (Yes, the donut is 24 years old, so ...) The framed, original window sticker is available. The car includes a DuraMetric code reader -- it's the "enthusiast" model and is mated to this car.
Clean title, clean CarFAX. Blackstone oil reports are clean. Pile of maintenance records and receipts.
Disclosures:
This car was driven across the US about a dozen times. Tracked frequently early in its life until I bought a purpose-built race car. It's got some cosmetic problems and shows some wear but nothing is broken. Used, but never neglected. It's no garage queen ... door dings and scratches, scuffs and chips. Mechanically in sound condition -- starts on the first try, no smells or rattles or leaks.
Chip repaired in the windshield in the bottom three inches or so; another chip is "in the black" at the top right, not visible to the driver. It's not spreading but can't be repaired.
The stupid 996 sun visors are stupid.
Interior is very nice; a few dings in the leather, and the bolster of the driver's seat is losing color, as shown -- but is not dry or torn.
Exterior: 6/10 because of dings, scratches, and some paint issues.
Interior: 8/10 because of some wear to the front driver's seat.
Mechanical: 9/10. Starts and runs, no stories.
Asking $26,900 as-is, where-is (near Seattle, Washington). I'm happy to answer your questions and entertain your offer.
