Porsche 944 1989 - 1991
Description:

Excellent used condition 944S2 (1989-91) camshafts for sale - $500 plus shipping. These are from a donor engine that I'm using to upgrade my 1988 944S. I am in the process of upgrading the engine with new aftermarket cams. The lobes and teeth are in excellent condition. They look 'dirty' in the pics but they have a coating of grease to keep the rust away - there's no rust on these!

I also have the original set of 944S camshafts from my car in excellent used condition for sale in a separate listing.

Hello,

Are these still for sale?

Also, am interested in what you chose for upgraded cam options.

Thanks

Hello Doug. Yes, these stock S2 cams are still available.

I chose to upgrade to the "Hot Street" cams from Catcams. Also, I just saw someone in the 944 tech forums selling a set of Webcams for the S/S2 but there are no details on the specs yet.

Here's a link to the discussion about my cam upgrade selection.

Thanks Bill. I'm currently finishing the rebuild of an S2 engine that will be going in my S, however for some reason, this particular S2 engine has S cams in it. So need to find some cams...

Yes, I've read other posts about installing S cams in the S2. I think they're both the same lift and duration with the S exhaust cam having a slightly different (4 degrees retarded) timing. If you do a search here, you may find some more info on this "upgrade."

I'm working on a very similar project. I have an '88 944S and I'm building an S2 engine for it. I will admit that in hindsight, I would have just rebuilt the top end and called it good, but I got greedy for hps

I'd love to hear more about your build. Maybe start a thread?

Interesting. I was originally just thinking to make this a stock S2 engined S. I'm located in Saskatchewan, Canada, so no track here, just a street car. That being said, the goal is still more HP/acceleration.

Biggest mistake I've made is the 3.0 S2 engine I started with was missing some accessories like the intake system. So a lot of scrounging to get everything needed.

Do you have any forecasts for what HP you might see with yours?

Well, turns out I was looking at the casting number not the cam part numbers (stamped on the rear face of each cam). I've got the correct S2 cams. Thanks for your correspondence thought, Bill.
