Description:
I am selling my 2005 Guards Red Carrera 4S 996. This year is hard to come by, one of 728 4S coupes produced in 2005.
I bought the car from Stonegate Auto Sales in August 2017 with 68k and currently still daily drive it with 104,xxx (will continue to creep up). I picked the car up from Jake himself and if you're familiar with Stonegate, they used to purchased Boxsters & 911s with failed engines and partner with Jake & Raby Engine Development to R&R the engine back to full health and then offer the vehicle up for sale to the public. I can send a link to the original listing when I bought it and have sales records and chats I can share disclosing what all was replaced but essentially full tear down, ultrasonic cleaning of the engine & new IMS, IMS Solution, Oil pump, Timing chains/guides/tensioners, gaskets, water pump, low temp thermostat, coils, plugs, belt etc. They were able to reuse the longblock minus the IMS and oil pump (I have the original Intermediate shaft with broken oil pump snout and grenaded bearing inner race). Engine pulls strong, transmission shifts crisp, still average 19mpg in town and 25 on highway with zero oil consumption between oil changes.
Option Codes:
342 / 425 / 446 / 513 / 586 / 680 / 692 / AH / G1 / M6A / P11 / P16 / P74 / P83 / XLF / XSC / Y06 / Y29
I am a former Audi & Mercedes technician and current Mechanical Engineer. I've got a lift in my garage and my full tool suite from when I was a tech and have maintained this car to the nines! Over the past 4 years I have full receipts of over $9k in parts I have replaced to keep this car in daily driver / excellent condition. I've replaced the entire suspension (all bushings, joints, shocks, springs), both rear axle shafts, various EVAP valves, heat exchanger, front CV boots and LF wheel bearing, flex disc coupling, motor mounts & trans mount, front rotors/pads and multiple sets of tires/alignments
Disclosures:
The paint is original and looks beautiful save for minor small chips. One larger dime sized paint imperfection on front bumper behind plate where I hit a cat and it pushed the plate bracket into the bumper. Interior is in good condition, normal driver seat bolster wear but no tears in leather. Both sun visor mirror covers are missing. I also get the occasional PO442 Evap purge Minor Leak. I've dealt with that off and on throughout ownership - sometimes goes away for months (typically during warm season) and other times comes back every couple of gas tanks (typically in the colder season). I have replaced the purge valve to the engine, fuel filler vent valve and 2 other EVAP line valves behind the right front fender liner. This does not affect drivability, nor will it damage anything other than hurt some environmentalists feelings. Porsche classifies as <1mm pinhole essentially. I had my local P-tech try to smoke test but they couldn't find anything leaking and I didn't want to continue guessing as I already eliminated the obvious bits.
Car drives incredibly well, is very reliable and has incredible maintenance history. You will not find another 996 C4S this well maintained with this service history for a better price!
Yes, ~36k since engine refresh. Original long block but only 36k miles since motor was stripped down, ultrasonically cleaned and reassembled with new chains/guides/tensioners, cam followers/lifters, oil pump, water pump, IMS and IMS Solution, gaskets/seals & hardware, coils, plugs, AOS, new clutch disc and all driveline fluids changed.
Here's a pic from when I took delivery. Jake had marked every last bolt indicating they were torqued to spec. That's the kind of perfectionism and attention to detail you want in a job like this!

I know F6I would have checked the bores when reconditioning the motor, but have you had them scoped again more recently since it’s been 37k miles?
I just had a PPI done on another C4S that found some bad scoring, so I’m a bit sensitive to it now… I’m sure the low temp thermostat has helped keep things in good shape on yours though.
The engine pulls strong, no notable oil consumption between oil changes. No abnormal ticking/tapping engine noise, no notable smoke on start up, etc. As the owner, driving it daily in a warmer climate with no foreseeable symptoms I have no reason to scope simply based off of 35-36k miles of use since refresh.
