Description:

All,

*****UPDATE 7/22/2021***** The wheels are being professionally REFINISHED in the factory color (powder coated) and will be ready at the end of 7/26 week. Pricing has been adjusted to $3,600.... pictures below are of the original look PRIOR to the refinishing. Will post refinished pictures immediately upon having the wheels back in my possession.

With my never ending love for rare OEM and OEM+ parts - - - I have ended up with two sets of OEM 996 GT2 wheels... which I have been lucky to acquire over the course of the past several months.

Front: 18x8.5 +40mm 28LBS with part number 9963621361
Rear: 18x12.0 +45mm 33LBS with part number 99636214231

Both sets are NOT perfect however, certainly NOT bad either. My plan was (and continues to be) to drop them off for refinishing this Tuesday/Wednesday and hold on to both sets of them - however, that leaves me with 3 sets of wheels for my 01' Turbo which I simply don't need. That said - I am willing to let ONE of the GT2 sets go prior to getting both refinished.

$3.1K+ shipping (or free local pick up)

Rather rare - doesn't seem as any available anywhere right this second (here, other forums, eBay, etc.)

Thanks!
Paul

They aren’t that rare. You can still buy them new at the dealer for about $1000 more, considering needing to ship yours. If yours need refinishing, then it’s about a wash. I’d buy new myself.

You bought one of those sets for about $2000 from a guy who posted in MD a few months back, right? @MaxGarweg are one of these your sets purchased for $2000 back in May? Maybe I’m wrong ….

I’m not sure if one of these sets was mine but I can certainly agree with the Seller that finding a nice set is becoming more and more difficult.

I also see a lot of things going for 50% more than they did even a few months back whether those are cars, seats, wheels etc. Always what the market will bear! GLWS

https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1251340 - $2k OBO

"Message sent!" - sempaipaul on 5/15

"Deposit received" - MaxGarweg 5/15

I was interested in them so I hate to see this type of thing happen, someone buys at a good price and then tries to flip, especially when they already had a set. I bought a brand new set myself for $4300 and was told Porsche has about 200 front wheels and 152 or so rears. Plenty available that are easy to find and don't need refreshing.

The seller has every right to flip and I have every right to share what I know.

I’ll give you $2100 for them, considering they need a refinish and don’t have centercaps.

No need to become aggressive. I did sell this guy GT2 wheels but I cannot guarantee that he is selling you the set that he bought from me. I just meant to underline that he has multiple sets and may very well be keeping my set for himself.

As you said there is nothing wrong with flipping and I’m not sure what you are trying to achieve with your posts. If it’s attempting to ding the seller for flipping then i guess you’ve achieved that. Rennlist should remain respectful let’s not forget we are all enthusiasts sharing the same passion.

Aggressive? I shared facts and my personal experience. Not sure what’s aggressive about that.

You are correct, I accomplished my goal of dinging the the attempted flip and I even said GLWS.

Maybe you need to be less “aggressive”? 😂

Haha ok Sherlock Holmes. Watch those facts and sarcasm. They can get you into trouble when your not behind a keyboard!

Good luck to the seller I hope you don’t need to deal with too many more literal tire kickers! Lol

I’m at a loss. Not behind my keyboard? You really want to take this conversation in that direction? Sorry, I’m no longer in high school and am not interested in meeting you at the flagpole at noon.

No more comments here.

Again, I said my part, GLWS seller

Unsubscribed.

@mnwild

I was not threatening you but simply remarking on how your pride in “dinging his sale” would not extend beyond your computer as if you behaved this way in person you would be liable to meet lots of folks “by the flagpole”

You specifically pulled me into this thread and wasted my time with some juvenile attempts to throw sand in the gears of a nice guy’s sale.

He got a deal and decided to make a few bucks and you felt slighted for missing out. Get over yourself!

Yep. If you can grab them at the dealer - have at it! When I looked - locally I didn't find any AND I also wouldn't be a guy that buys them for $4.5K. Perhaps some others would.

I did by them off MaxGarweg back in the May timeframe. Paid the full asking price if you must know. Moreover - to set the record straight - had absolutely no intents of "flipping" them as per your commentary. I have a 996 Turbo which has all the OEM GT2 bits with the exception of the wheels so - I finally had lucked out and purchased these for my car. I drove a 9 hour round trip to pick these up, spent close to $75 in tolls and about $125 in gas if you must know. I also went by the rest area and bought a couple of snacks and a Starbucks cup of coffee that was marked up about 93.5% vs. what they had purchased the ingredients for. When I got home - I took them to a local tire place. I had the tires removed to a tune of $25.00 EACH. Have receipt to share if you'd like or - can post it on here if you'd prefer.

I later lucked out AGAIN and found an another set. If you must know - I paid $2K flat for that one too. I purchased - well - - - because a lot of us are impulsive buyers with cars, parts, etc. I ONCE AGAIN drove to NJ, picked them up, got them home, took the rubber off of them. My out of pocket spend was about the same. I may have taken a different route through Philly this time around if I remember correctly so, saved on that initial NJ Turnpike entry toll.

Got both sets home and 2 months later it hit me that... I don't really need 2 sets of GT2 wheels. That said - - - I am selling "A SET". No specific wheel from one original seller nor the other. Haven't picked. Moreover - considering I am having at least one set refinished - I would give the best 4 wheels of the bunch that I have here in the buyers interest!

The $3.1K? well - that's actually probably VERY close to what I have in each of these sets between the time spent to pick them up, the above tolls, gas, snacks, and 93.5% marked up cup of Starbucks.

If they don't sell - - - they don't sell. Worst case scenario I'll have two FRESH sets of nicely refinished GT2 996 OEM wheels sitting in my garage.

MaxGarweg - thank you for a good deal and you have an absolutely STUNNING GT3RS sitting there...

Yep - that communication was MaxGarweg and I. Again 0 no intent on flipping here. HOWEVER - if I desired to do such - I would have STILL purchased them, brought them home, and flipped them the way they were. Frankly - could of possibly made a few dollars - - - even more perhaps considering they had some sort of tires on them even though they weren't perfect. I'll be the first to admit that I had flipped an 87 911' in 2007 when I bought it for $7K and sold for $11K a year later .... ah. Should of kept it. Could of flipped it 15 years later for $40K+

I'll pass but thank you. Will keep them at this cost.

Thank you! By the way - incredible recommendation on Sunday Motor Co. Cafe. I was secretly hoping to win that raffle..... AH. Here is another $125.00 that I spent that Mnwild forgot to account for in my costs towards the wheels.... Shoot I may need to add an another $125.00 to the $3.1K OBO asking price.

Good read! Thanks for the participation everyone!

Wheels are still for sale Who's next?

$3.1K OBO + shipping.

If anyone wants them refinished before me shipping them out - - - I can also arrange that as well in a color of your choice. Got a great powder coater in the area who is also VERY reasonably priced. I promise not to add 90%+ mark up on it. Moreover - if you're nice - I may even show you the receipt for how much it costs to get them powder coated and not charge you a dime of mark up!!!
