Description:
I am selling my beloved Cayman! I first purchased this car with 13k miles in March 2015 and I am the 6th owner. I have the carfax from the the time I purchased the car (attached here) which includes the different ownership. The previous owner said he barely drove it and wanted it to go to a good home. Since then, I have done most of the maintenance myself (1 time at dealer) and have kept records of them. I really want this car to go to an enthusiast (and not flipper) so that they can enjoy this car in all its glory. I will detail the car this weekend, return it back to stock, and upload photos this weekend.
The reason I am selling: I am buying a GT4
The Good
- 33,8773 miles as of this listing
- Full documentation on mods
- Full documentation on maintenance. (Google Doc and I can email/share to serious buyer)
- Excellent Condition for a 12 year old car
- Gets complements every time I drive the car. On 6/20/21 people said, "That's a bad *** car man, I bet that thing is fast!" & "Hey come check this out, the trunk is in the front. Look look look"
- I babied this thing since the day I bought it and still do to this day.
The Not so Good
- There is 1 small door ding on the right rocker panel when I purchased the car. I will take a picture tomorrow.
- My friend backed into me in a parking lot from 10 ft in front of me going about 3-4 mph. It left a 3 scuffs on the front bumper from the license plate ranging from 1/4" to 1/2". My friend had the bumper repainted to make everything right and I paid to have the fender painted at the same time. There is no damage to the bumper, car, alignment, or anything else. This was purely for cosmetic reasons.
- I accidentally dropped my road bike and the pedal hit the front bumper. It left a dent right after I painted the bumper. I will take pictures tomorrow.
- There is a chip on the windshield and light peppering from road debris (not sure if my camera will pick it up).
Mods - I have all stock parts unless noted
- Fabspeed Jackpoint when I purchased the car
- Clear turn signals when I purchased the car
- Carnewal GT Exhaust on 10/25/15 with around 15k miles (I didn't keep track of mileage at the time)
- Fabspeed X-Tips on 4/14/16 (I didn't keep track of mileage at the time)
- Catless Headers - Unknown modified brand added 10/22/16 (I didn't keep track of mileage at the time)
- Catless Map/Tune at the same time
- These headers ended up breaking at the original weld on 11/2/19. There was no impact, damage, or any accident when this occurred. High heat on track caused this to happen as it suddenly got louder midturn on T5 at Laguna.
- Front LCA + Alignment on 9/25/19 at 27,382 mi
- GT3 front Brake Ducts (I forgot to mark this on my mods so no date/mileage)
- Numeric Shift Cables on 10/1/19 at 27,680
- This was preventative and for better feel
- I do not have the stock shift cables. I threw these away.
- Ohlins R&T Suspension + Tarett Camber Plates on 4/29/20 at 29,644 mi
- Cayman R Spoiler on 5/14/20 at 29,815 mi
- Fabspeed Catless Headers (wrapped) on 5/20/20 at 29,815 mi
- Tarett Wheel Stud Kit on 6/9/20 at 30,063 mi
- This was for convenience
- Tarett Caliper Stud Kit on 6/19/20 at 30,427 mi
- I did this when I changed the rotors
- 5mm spacer for rear on 2/2/21 at 32,420 mi
- There was slight rubbing on the inside wheel well
- I asked RL and the consensus was to add 5mm space
In the mean time, I took some close ups. The best way to avoid swirl marks/spider webs is proper lubrication, light pressure (by hand and 1,000 psi max), and some good towels. A foam gun isn’t mandatory but it is like shaving with shaving cream.
The key to a good reflection is a smooth surface. Tiny swirl marks in the clear coat deflect light in multiple directions which gives hazy reflections.
Old pic: Damage from my friend backing in…
After washing today. I have the tow hook cover and have not replaced it yet. Don’t worry! (I’m camera shy so I covered my face).
Where I dropped my bike.
Chip on the windshield from driving on the freeway. I taped the inside to make it easier to see.
Headlights are still clear.
