Just trying to recoup some of the sales tax paid. The price is less than someone would pay a dealer in a state that does not charge sales tax on private party “used” car sales such as Arizona. We are fortunate that used car private party sales are not taxed.

That depends on the tax policies of the state in which the buyer intends to title & register the car. In Arizona, the buyer would pay NO additional sales taxes - only titling and registration fees. I can not speak to the tax policies in other states. It is unfortunate that some states feel the need to tax the same vehicle endlessly. The buyer hopefully will know what to expect in their state. Sorry if my earlier reply was confusing.
