So, it is needed to reuse the ballast and hid bulbs only from our original headlights? So technically if I didn't want to mess with my oem ones I could just order new hid bulbs and some used ballasts off Ebay?

Thank you

Thank you
Glen, correct. Ballast and HID bulbs transfer over. Whole process (remove OEM HLs, transfer ballast and bulb, install new HLs) takes 30 minutes and is an easy DIY. We have an instructional video.

Checked the website but the product page appears to be down. Product discontinued? Any chance there's another one in the works?

Rennkit(TM) Introduces
All New Porsche® 996 MK II Headlight

Rennkit now offering a brand-new headlight for the Porsche® 911 Series from 2001 through 2005, also known as 996 MK II.

All-new headlights featuring LED daylight halo ring, fog lamp and amber turn indicator. They do not include the HID bulb or ballast (transferred from existing headlamps). Both a black and silver version are available, for both HID and Halogen bulb headlamps used in the 996 Carrera, Carrera 4S, GT3 and Turbo vehicles.

Black Version Headlamp

Silver Version

The headlights come in silver and black versions. The hi/lo xenon bulb and ballast must be transferred from your OEM headlights. A Rennkit(TM) video describes the entire procedure. Removal, transfer of headlamp bulb / ballast and installation takes approximately 30 minutes and is an easy DIY project.

We have installed these on a 2002 996 Turbo and a 2004 996 Turbo without issue. They are very well made with an OEM quality and have a nice fit and finish along with rubber gasketing to prevent moisture intrusion.

Considering the cost of a new set of OEM headlamps is over $6200 (without bulb or HID ballast)...

Our price is $2195 for the pair, a great value considering the updated look, LED lighting and robust quality. At this time, expedited shipping direct from the manufacturer in Taiwan is $250. We hope to decrease this amount once the COVID 19 issue is behind us.

We no longer carry this product. Far too many customer issues coupled with inept factory support. They just did not meet our high standards for Rennkit products.

Dave,
I'm considering buying these headlights from xtrememotorcars on ebay. Glad I found this thread before purchasing. Can you give me some insight into the customer issues? Should I stay away?

Thanks

factory does not stand behind their product and there were MANY defective lights shipped. Rolling the dice if you go forward.

best,
Dave
