I have mine for sale in Toronto. Note that mileage is in KM and price in CAD. My understanding is that importation to US is a fairly simple process but I have never done it myself.
Yes, PDCC was an option and like the rear locking diff, very hard to come by. To Identify visually if the Trans has PDCC, look below the rockers for the ride height and differential settings.....in the plastic trim piece, it will have PDCC printed.
Thanks Blagave... a good Transsyberia is not easy to find. And i would absolutely want one with PDCC; preferably black and orange. I have my feelers out in case one comes across my path.
You really don't need the PDCC or the rear locking diff......both would be nice to have, but the Cayenne works great without. Keep an open mind, because the Transsyberia's don't come up that often and some of the ones that do were not well kept. I have owned (3) and currently have two.....one with 14,000 original miles and I too am constantly looking for the magic unicorn that has all the options......There is one in Spain that is a manual.....that would be nice to have.
You have one with 14,000 miles?! Wow. That is serious collector car. You make a good point about not waiting for one with PDCC and all the bells and whistles. Just a solid, clean, well loved Transsyberia would be a good place to start. I have had a LOT of Cayennes and have loved them all. The Trans will be a fun hunt. I had a manual 958 GTS. LOVED it. I wonder how difficult it would be to import a vehicle from Spain during all this covid nonsense.
Unfortunately, the good old USA doesn't play nice with the rest of the world on imports. It would be very hard and expensive to import a Transsyberia into the USA. They made 600 Transsyberia's for North America and possibly 100 plus for the rest of the world as I was told. The rest of the world VIN# have ZZZ in them and will restrict you from importing. The rules are 25 years or older to import with minimal paper work. Or "Show & Display", which requires some type of historical value or technical advancement to qualify. The other classification is "Race", which would not apply. If you try and bring in as gray market, which I am not sure you can, the car would have to go to a "R.I." registered importer. The car would have to be modified to meet EPA and safety standards on your dime, which could take months and thousands of dollars if possible.
Your best bet is to do what you are doing now and just keep looking for a clean car here in the USA
My black/meteor grey will be up for sale in a few weeks if interested. Around 100k miles and in excellent condition. Email me at jarod.arand@hotmail.com if you'd like more information. Probably mid-20s USD.
Actually, only 285 Transsyberia were produced. I have a Meteor Grey with Crystal Silver contrast. Only 28 of this color combo were delivered to USA. I might be willing to let it go.
Feel free to shoot me a PM on what you'd ask for it and maybe some picts... They are def rare birds. If I dont go this route, I may build a mutant hybrid for a fun project using a Turbo or GTS.
Actually, 600 Transsyberias were produced for North America. There were others made for the rest of the world. I have heard conflicting numbers, but somewhere plus or minus 100
There were 119 produced for USA and Canada, only 17 of the 119 went to Canada. The remaining 166 ROW. Total was 285 per Porsche. Wish there were 600 produced. The largest quantity produced were the Black and Orange, 46 for USA.
