Automatic car wash w/20" wheels -- how bad an idea?
Just got my better half a Macan with 20" Carrera Classics. She habitually frequents automatic washes which didn't cause any discernible pain to her prior cars (Lexus GX, M/B ML). Now, the idea of driving my 991 (with, as it happens, identical wheels) into an auto wash is an absolute heresy, but Macan has higher profile tires. Still a bad idea, or not a problem with a modicum of care when getting on the belt?
Note that I am not terribly concerned about the paint (white), maybe I should be?

So long as it's a touchless wash with rails for the wheels that only contact the tire sidewalls, it should be fine.

I'm sorry...I just can't bear the thought of automatic car washes. I'm sure that there are many of you who frequent them and will swear that they do no harm but I've seen evidence to the contrary. I find it odd that so many men and women will spend countless hours and dollars on various fitness programs yet will forego washing and detailing their own vehicles.

I have (gasp!) put my 991 targa with 20" wheels through the local brushless carwash -- the track that pulls the car through doesn't harm the wheels. So far, no problem, except that some soapy water gets under the trunk lid, as the seal is a bit inside -- I have to open that and have it cleaned out.
